I hit a deer with my 2012 Super Tenere last September. I'm all healed up but, the bike is gone. After much consideration I have decided to buy another. Preferably within a days drive from East Tennessee but, would go farther for the right bike/deal. I can buy a new left over locally for about $11,000. With the current price of a new one in mind, if anyone has a reasonably priced clean used one that they would like to sell, send me a message. I'm not looking for a steal but, I'm not paying $14,000 for a used bike just because it is low mileage and has some farkles on it.

Thanks for reading

Same thing I'm seeing. I was hoping to pick up a used tenere for a few grand less than new but everyone wants 10-13k for used ones. Probably going to buy new at this rate.

Yep, I feel bad for the guys that paid $14k for them and are trying to sell them now.

I agree. Current valuations on carryover models have really messed up the market for used bikes. I wouldn't be happy if I'd paid near list price a few months ago, only to see identical units selling $3k+ cheaper now. Same thing is happening with new vehicles. I bought a new '13 F-150 in December for what they were asking for used ones at the same dealership. I don't know how things like this work out, but I guess they eventually do when all the carryover stock is gone.

I guess I mean guys that are expecting to get 11k for a used one when new ones are going for less. I can't believe they sell for so low though, its an incredible bike for the money.

2012 Super Tenere in Southeast Missouri. The bike has 3700 miles and comes with Holan pro panniers, Parrabellum wind shield, rox risers, seat concepts seat, bags connect powered tank bag. The reason I am selling it, is my wife can't get comfortable on it. Im going to buy a gold wing. $10,500. OBO

Lots of bikes out there devalue more than this. And if I was happy with what I paid a couple of years ago, I wouldn't let todays value spoil my happiness.

I still say nobody gets screwed on Teneres. They are just as much fun to ride at MSRP. :)

What do you consider a reasonable price for a year and half old bike with $2000 worth of upgrades? Seems to me if you buy a new bike for $11000 new + 2000 in upgrades, it would be worth 10,000 for a like new one with 3700 miles. Save the $3000 and go on a nice trip to Alaska.
If you want a $9000 bike, I will be more than happy to put it back to stock.

I don't know if you're talking to me or not but I'd say $9,500-$10k if its in as good as shape as you're appears to be in. Accessories are generally only worth ~25% of what you pay for them on resale unless the parts you put on the bike are exactly what the potential buyer is looking for. And I wasn't talking about your bike when I said I couldn't believe what guys were asking-I'm talking more about the 15,000 mile bikes with a couple parts on them and asking $13-15k for them. They are high :D

Now a '13 I do think is worth a little more in used condition mainly because I would say most people like the color schemes a lot more on the '13s, me included. That's why I'm more than likely going to pick up a new '13 unless I find a killer deal on a used '12.

That's a difficult question. $2000 of upgrades is great, but only if it's the right $2000 in upgrades. For example, if you have OEM panniers, someone is going to want Jesse ones. If you have a throttlemeister, someone is going to want a Kaoko. If you have a Sargent seat, someone is going to want a Russell Day Long. The list goes on and on. Said in short, the bike may have $2000 of upgrades, but if they're not the upgrades that the buyer wants, and would do anyhow, then you won't recoup any of the upgrade price.

It's been said before, and I will say it again, if you want to get the top dollar, your best bet is likely to strip the bike as close to stock as possible, and sell it that way. After doing so, sell the upgrades individually, thereby getting top dollar, because the person buying them really wants them, and is willing to pay a price for them.

I suspect if you offer your bike for $9,000 as stock as possible, it will not be around for long. Good luck with the sale.

I would try to sell it at first with the parts on it as I value my time of un-installing everything plus having to ship everything is a real PITA but I have certainly done it before. Usually I just sell the bike with everything the buyer wants and then sell the parts they didn't want after the fact.

Thanks for the feedback. I was not trying to start anything. I was just looking for honest opinions. I just wish the used bikes available now were available when I bought mine. I have seen quite a few that are set up very nice for the money. I will probably take your advice, and strip the bike down to stock to sell it that way.

You know I would just post what the price is for everything, then what you will deduct by removing each major accessory. Might save you the time of pulling off parts and then putting them right back on.
