Yes. Big red key to be locked away. It is used to program new keys. Never lose it or you have to replace the entire ignition system. I gave it to my wife. R
Now that's what I call a firm conformation to your commitment of when you said “I DO” ;D

Last thing she wants is me hanging around the house due to a lost key. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. R

DCSTROM- you bet post it wherever. a bit more for ya, as mentioned picked up the bike Wednesday and took her out on the maiden voyage. I just walked in thouse from some more mazing riding. Woke up Thursday morning with our plan to go to our friends cabin/lodge on Quiet Lake- South Canol road, just as I am about to depart with my daughter on board, my wife says aren't you like one of the first guys to get this type of bike in N America? I say yes, she then looks to my 9 year old daughter and says you are the first passenger on a Tenere in the Yukon!! She was pumped.

This then lead me to being a bit selfsih and decided to touch as many highways as I could. First night out I hit the Alaska Highway, South Klondike Highway and the Carcross Tagish road. Thursday before heading to Q Lake went to the North Klondike/Mayo road to a friends. We then headed south down the Alaska highway to the South Canol. Spent the night at friends cabin, in the morning scooted up to Ross River, crossed on the ferry and hit the North Canol Road for a 40km trip. A few firsts???

Any way back to the steed. My rides blessed me with every condition imaginable and the bike performed in all. As stated before by myslef and others, this is a great bike and very comfortable. To add to my previous review I now have my large Micatech panniers on. I know I will enjoy them for their space, however they do hang out there like sails and at higher speeds 140 plus you can feel the wind bufet over them. Further note to the difference between sport and touring mode is significant and makes up a bit for the Micsails. So next road was dry, rocky and soft sand. the bike handled it like a trooper, no problems, light and easy to throw around, feels much lighter than 570 wet. The way home today I was met by a downpore of rain on the S Canol rd, again hanlded this very well. The odd bit of front end diving in corners, nothing better tires would not fix if this is going to be your terrain. Once on the ak hwy i SAW SUN, BRUTAL HAIL, RAIN AND THEN SUN AGAIN. S10 handled it all very well. The rear brakes that felt a bit soft to me on my first ride, seem to be settign in very nicely. They now feel to be grabbing and more responsive. Climbing steeps on washboards/rough road in TCS 1 resulted in the TCS engaging and significant speed loss. TCS 2 seemd to fix this. I will be looking to set up a toggle to switch TCS and ABS off/on.

The next best thing was the amount of bikes I met or passed and the double take from them ALL. I stopped at a few fuel stations and was met by several other brands who had nothing but questions!! We are ridin a gamechanger.

That is all for now, flying off to Vancouver in the a.m., so I am off to go make some more miles while my family is still at the cabin.

LOVE THE BIKE!!!

I can not get enough of this bike, have to tuck it in for the night. Just went for a cruise to Haines Junction and back. This bike is so rideable and comfortable I can not beleive it! I use to get off my prior bikes after a few hours and feel 75 years old. Think I found a keeper

That's a large 10-4. My sentiments exactly. I can't wait to park my ample ass right back on that boy. Did a run to Teslin today. Might do the Tagish loop tomorrow and then it's ready for the 1000 km service. Then I'm good to go. Better getter done. R

I am in the same boat as you two fellows, but with a few less kliks. Just got in from a short ride down the Atlin road and then over to Tagish and home. Very nice two up as well, my partner road with me tonight and actually enjoyed the ride.

Troll, let me know if you want to do a moderate, semi-quasi medium run tomorrow (Sunday). I'd be up for it.

Gonna power out now and dream of traction control and ABS braking and stuff like that. R

Yeah, sorry Rod. I guess that was a tad rude.

Out of penance, I will ride my Honda today and leave the Yamaha in the garage. This is one guy who knows how to take one for the team.

And now, I'm going to point out all the faults of this bike:

1. It didn't come with a free puppy.
2. It does not have a leather seat.
3. The horn sounds like a mangy alley cat with asthma.
4. There were no appliances included.

So it's not as great as everyone seems to think it is. I'm sorry, but it's just not. R

Definition of a love/hate for ya. I love ya rem, but I really hate ya right now. So want my Tenere to show up. Been bikeless since April 8 when my latest BMW went in for its final service only to be bought back by them. Yes, I am in serious withdrawals right now. I needs me a fix. But then again, those four "deficencies" could be the death knell of the Tenere too. I mean, really, who doesn't get a free puppy, new appliances, leather, and a ship's fog horn with their new bikes. I may have to call my dealer and cancel my order!

we are all living vicariously through you and the others with the S10 in their hands. Keep it comin'!!!!

A Tenere a day keeps the doldrums away.

A Tenere in the garage is worth two at the dealership.

You can lead a Tenere to the garage, but you can't make him stay there.

A Tenere by any other name would still be an awesome sumbich.

Absence makes the Tenere seem faster.

An idle Tenere is the devil's playground

An ounce of Tenere is worth a pound of BMW.

Thanks Rem - I feel better all ready!!

As for the puppy - don't need one anyway!!! Nancy and I just adopted one at the National Mill Dog Rescue! http://milldogrescue.org/

Fantastic place dedicated to creating a better life for our animal friends.

Good for you. I'm with you on that one. I'm a serious dogfather. I have two little shelties. My little Annie is the picture you see beside my name on the forum. Love them doggies. R

Rem, does your S10 have the Yamaha red key security system, similar to the FJR 1300's ? Sorry I see it was already answered
