It's entirely possible that they will produce parts but I have been told several times by Yamaha executives that they have no intention of taking the Worldcrosser concept any further. The rear frame of the bike is completely different. I tell you what it looks great in the flesh. I would definitely buy the parts if they become available.

Yeah, another couple of gallons of gas carried low would be a real bonus if you're going deep in the boonies.

I'm going to build a few options for sure when the bike gets here.. Got some cool ideas... A few extra gallons will be available for the ride to the 2012 YUKON meet.... ;D

What about the Super Tenere "R" version that was lighting up the rear tire in the "urban enduro" video?

It would be cool to have the option between an S10 and an S10R... like the KTM 990s (but with quicker oil changes, more reliability, and less maintenance!) :D

I think all of use who have been waiting patiently for over a year need to steel ourselves for the inevitable product improvements that are likely going to come to the S10 fairly quickly after they ship our bikes. If you're the type who gets upset when you don't have the latest/greatest, you're probably going to be upset within a year or so. Yamaha has not been sitting on their hands this entire time and if they're committed to the platform, they'll need to move it rapidly forward. Since the S10 is a direct GS-competitor, I view it as a given that they'll probably want to create a more off-road oriented "Adv" version as BMW does with their GS. And they'll have to respond to the water-cooled R12xxGS which will likely break cover this fall.

There are rumours of a TRX1200 as well. It would be good to see the 900cc motor used in a "Mid Ten". They seem to be doing a fair bit with concepts, press junketts, Nick Sanders sponsorship, Rally versions (XT1200R) and video's. Add it all up and it looks like they are a bit more serious then I thought they would be. I don't know how much of that is directed from Japan though or whether it is individual countries doing their bit. The current bike seems to cover a fair bit of ground and seems pretty spot on for the design brief. I am wondering whether they would be better off coming out with a "Euro" bike. One that is more biased for the twisties and more sport oriented for all the wannabe adventurers. One thing I am fairly certain of though is that it wouldn't be too much too fast. Reliability always seems to be top priority in Japanese circles.

Cheers
Graham

An engineer looks at something and says 'if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet!' :p

HaHa!! A couple years ago I helped my neighbor build a pergola on the back of his house. We both are retired and have engineering backgrounds. After it was done, he invited another neighbor over to "check it out" and the guy took one look at it and said "Kinda over-engineered it, didn't you?" Oh well, it wasn't going to collapse!!!
