That's cool. I think it's a good move on Yamaha's part to put the worldcrosser into production. 8)

WEll, I got the right one for me the first time around. With the exception of the Great Bear (my lovely wife), I can't say that very often. R ::026:: ::008::

A discussion of this on ADV has pointed out that this is not quite the World crosser we saw at the shows last year. Notice no rear tank, no robust skid plate as examples. Looks like some neat guards and decals. I think the exhaust shield looks good and hope that some of these bits are available individually.

Its good news for all of us. Any expansion of the Tenere line brings more options, aftermarket goodies and upgrades.

Cool! However I think Yamaha made the wrong decision in staying with the OEM pebble guard. They're really hanging their azz out there by putting that poorly-mounted plate on a bike named 'world crosser.' That's just asking for trouble IMO.

Well damn. Not sure I want all the protective bits, then everyone would be expecting me to ride way back in the doo doo places. LOL

If we could make it lighter tho, that would be nice. I do like the looks of it, just needs to be white.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I see a bike with a few extra guards (some that are not well-regarded like the sump guard), fragile carbon-fiber bits that dramatically increase the financial hit if the thing tips over, and different paint/stickers (with questionable aesthetics). Unlike the GSA, no larger fuel tank, no extra suspension travel, no lower gearing, no larger windscreen/fairing, no extra lighting. It seems to me that if anyone wanted a Worldcrosser now, they simply could buy the bits from Yamaha and bolt them on. In fact, as I understand it the WC is not a different bike, but simply a bolt-on option package that the dealer puts on.

Color me underwhelmed. Maybe I'm missing something. I'm still waiting for someone on the Asian side of the pond to wake up and realize how easy it would be to produce an true Adventure version of the Strom or S10 using the GSA formula, particularly the bigger fuel tank. They'd sell like hotcakes.

Doesn't sound like it is US bound so probably an academic discussion.

Looks like its just a dealer installed 3 piece kit. Nothing we can't do ourselves, and probably better.

Will hold off further comments until the 'R' specs come out.

I bet the 'R' is probably going to be pretty close to what we have been looking at the last year... With the suspension Etc... I'm going to guess $20 - 25K for the 'R'

Or already have installed. I know mine is currently as well or better equipped for off road use right now

The World Crosser look fabulous, really nice to my eye but my world crossing days are behind me for now. I am very very happy with my "Maxine" XTZ12 and it sounds like it is better for the 90% road riding Ill be doing for now, ... but one never knows where that road can take us ...
