Windscreen for tall person

Goodday,

And again, a question about windscreens. I'm a longer person than average, 200cm or 6"6'.
And the XT1200ZE is a really nice bike, rides perfect, but the buffeting is driving my crazy.
I've tried several screens:
- Original
- Original with spoiler
- Givi Airflow without brackets
- Airflow with Madstad brackets
- No screen at al

And, the last solution is the best til now. But it looks ugly and there is a lot of pressure on the chest and helmet at highway speeds.

What should I do? I'm thinking of the tall Vstream screen, or a small MRA/ Touratech screen.
I use the bike every day, when it is not getting better there is no other solution than buy another bike with better protection. This is really irritating.

Thanks a lot,
Paul de Vries

Do you have the factory side spoilers mounted?

Yes I have. Its a Worldcrosser with all the spoilers etc.
Maybe tha Madstad screen is good, but there is not a company who sells Madstad in The Netherlands.
The brackets I found by accident seconhanded.

It sounds like the buffeting is a result of turbulence from the windshield itself. For me, the stock set up with the addition of the side deflectors and a top deflector work very well. What I can share is my experience solving the problem on a 2002 V-Strom I owned. Like you, if I removed the wind screen the problem went away. I played with the set up for almost a year before I solved it. The key was reducing the pressure drop behind the wind screen. With the Strom, I added spacers to open the bottom gap, side deflectors to channel some air in from there and a top deflector to break the buffeting around my head. Adjusting the angle of attack with the top deflector was the final piece to totally eliminating the problem. At 70 MPH it felt like I was riding in a moderate breeze

Bimota's set up looks like it has accomplished that

If you haven't already, I encourage you to try various angles on your top deflector and see if that makes a difference, both better and worse.

I expect you will receive more concrete suggestions specific to the Super T from others on the forum.

Good luck, I will be interested to see your ultimate solution

Okee, thanks for the advice.
I have a top deflector, cheap one from Ali, but I can try.
Maybe in combination with the OEM tall screen.

I have not worked with the Madstad brackets but if they let you open up the bottom more I would also try that.

the solution is to allow enough air flow behind the screen to reduce the turbulence without adding pressure to your torso

It may be a dumb suggest but...
Have you tried with another helmet to see if gets any better?
When I drive with my flip up helmet is actually worse than when I ride with the open one...
Just my two cents

I have the Givi and very pleased with it.
I am not as tall as you but I can go at very very high speed and still keep my helmet open without problem...
Again I am not as tall as you though

Do you have the non movable Givi? I'm 6'3" and looking for something to try instead of the Airflow which seem to be very hard to come by. Thx

I have the windscreen that replace the OEM one.
It is wider and about 4" taller.
As I said I am just 176cm ( 5'9" I think)...
There is a givi airflow, second hand, on sale here subito.it
I try to attach a link

6'1" here, I tried the Puig deflector on stock windscreen and it was a clear improvement. But yesterday I found a deal on a used Givi Airflow with Madstad bracket (70$ for both), and I must say this is probably the best windscreen I have ever experienced on any bike (including K1600GTL...). I can ride with my visor open, no problem (and thats not even with the top screen adjusted at it's highest!). The only downside is you have to look through it. That madstad bracket is expensive when new, but if you can find a used one, it's so worth it to get rid of the stock mecanism...

Nice to head that the Airflow works great. I have tried once, but was really disappointed.
I have ordered a MRA small sport screen, curious what that will do.
