Went to the supermarket again today. I used my normal polite request of ""scuse me. I am protecting your family, would you mind protecting mine".

Saw five people with masks protecting their Adam's apple , three chose to get close enough for me to politely remark as above.

Good luck to all, Sierra, etc in Texas...

You are fortunate to get away with those remarks. If you politely ask someone to cover up here it ends up with a physical altercation, spit in your face, or a squirt of pepper spray. When I leave home my mask is on from the time I leave my vehicle until I'm inside. It's a choice I have made to protect my loved ones.

I am of the minority.

I live in a state that encourages those to protest the use of masks and vaccines. It's a free for all and up to the individual to wear one or not when going into places of business or near others. There is no enforcement whatsoever.

As of today at 07:35 hours: If you are 16 years old and a drug addict that works at a fast food or an undocumented alien that works in the food industry, you are eligible for the vaccine. If you are 62 years old, on dialyses and at risk of dying if you get covid you are not eligible.

Just less than a few weeks ago early release convicts, homeless, undocumented aliens, and poor communities of minority were eligible. The rules of who gets it or not changes almost daily. Ironically you have to certify you are 18 years of age but are able to sign up for the vaccine if you are 16. You do not have to provide proof of citizenship. Please do not take my word for it. Check for yourself:

Right now the only legal way to sign up for the vaccine in the state of California is through this website. All the state health insurance providers are sending notification emails to members to check for eligibility daily. DaVita has someone that is checking the website a few times a day to get my wife in ASAP. Kaiser is also providing administration that is doing it for their patients.

Do not be fooled by the media. The governor in the state of California is our God right now. He is the one who is choosing who gets the vaccine. The trend has been to watch what areas of the state he visits. For example a poor community of minorities. The very next day they are eligible for the vaccine. A few days later he visits farm communities and changes the priority.

EMA is aware that the Danish Health Authority has paused its vaccination campaign with COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca.
This was decided as a precautionary measure while a full investigation is ongoing into reports of blood clots in people who received the vaccine, including one case in Denmark where a person died.
Some other Member States have also paused vaccination with this vaccine.

There is currently no indication that vaccination has caused these conditions, which are not listed as side effects with this vaccine.
The position of EMA’s safety committee PRAC is that the vaccine’s benefits continue to outweigh its risks and the vaccine can continue to be administered while investigation of cases of thromboembolic events is ongoing.

PRAC is already reviewing all cases of thromboembolic events, and other conditions related to blood clots, reported post-vaccination with COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca.

The number of thromboembolic events in vaccinated people is no higher than the number seen in the general population.
As of 10 March 2021, 30 cases1 of thromboembolic events had been reported among close to 5 million people vaccinated with COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca in the European Economic Area.

EMA will further communicate as the assessment progresses.

I normally ask them as they are getting up off the floor Chris. :D

On a more sombre note. As you indicate, it's not an easy situation we're in and it is full of inconsistencies, poor decision-making and answers that do not work for all. I have resigned myself to staying in as much as possible and, when I do go out, avoid as many idiots as I can.

Getting angry and irritated will not rectify anything and will only exacerbate any negative feelings you have. I must say that, if approached very very placatingly, Filipinos are generally good natured.

I just wish things were easier for everybody tbh. No matter who.

A couple fake Buddha quotes:

“You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger"

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else — you are the one who gets burned.”

How very true!! I have learned that just by being polite to the non mask wearers brings out the worst anger and escalates violence. It's better to just turn away form them and go in another direction.

I was stationed in Subic Bay for 8 months and loved it. It's a whole different world.

I sure would like to see that. I have found those that are angry and burning down buildings, overturning cars, rioting, road raging, blocking your entry to vaccination sites, etc, are jumping for joy after they get their way. And no consequences. I have never once seen them get burned.

Our state encourages and embraces it. Good citizens like myself that are following the rules and trying to live in peace are frowned upon.

Just signed up for my second dose, I did not have to use the "My Turn" website as Ventura County has their own system. I think starting next month however Grusom want's Blue Shield to take over and force the whole state through a uniform My Turn system. That gives the state total control of the distributions and priorities. Funny thing is all 58 California Counties are asking to be exempted! The system looks to be a bureaucratic nightmare.

I was a little stressed about getting the second dose as once you've started with dose 1 there's a bit of a clock ticking if you will. I was growing more concerned when it was announced I think late last week that 40% of the vaccine was being prioritized and diverted to disadvantaged neighborhoods. I have no problem with that, but feared getting caught in the middle and unable to get my second dose in time. Turns out there was no issue and plenty of appointments were added for next week when I need to get it.

With regard to illegals getting vaccinations, trying to achieve heard immunity levels is going to be difficult if you leave out entire populations, no matter their status. For the good of society, everyone present needs to be vaccinated. It does little good for the rest of us to leave a festering reservoir of this virus somewhere. Not sure how I feel about how the priorities are rolling out but I think the cost of extending lockdowns will exceed the cost of vaccinating these additional folks.

I'm a card-carrying Libertarian, but I view vaccines as a societal as opposed to individual issue.

The way our doctors and nurses explained the health providers are doing it for you. Apparently it's on a big database that's updated constantly. I got my mother in law in without having to register. I just followed the online instructions on the letter from Kaiser.

Yes Jeff it's spooky and the uncertainty is bothersome.

You have seen the movie "Idiocracy", right?
Yes!! That describes California perfectly!! Dystopia comes to mind......
