Went down to Salida,CO to do some passes:

First night camp at Mushroom Gulch area.

2nd Day Attempted Hayden Pass. Steep, Loose Rocky and exposure , if you got nocked off the road on the downhill side it was going to be a serious affair and laborious extraction. The below photo was taken in retreat. Dont know if you can tell it in the photo but that is a narrow ridge upper left corner of photo is a tree. I walked up there and it was just as steep down that side as the right. The ascent starts in the valley below down on the Arkansas river at around 7,600 ft elevation and ascend the ridge to over 10,000 ft in roughly 5 miles. I think I turned around at 9600.

My buddy bounced off this little ledge and spun out and tipped over and was pinned for a bit between bike and the log on the ground.

I made it through this section but it was dicey. Im coming back for another attempt but I will NOT have Tourance tires on!

Buddy was a little banged up but we soldiered on for 2 more days of riding (Marshal, Old Monarch, Boreas, Weston) all the easy passes. We had planned for an additional day but cut it short.

Has anybody on here been over Hayden Pass on a Tenere. Just wonder what the south side descent is like on a Tenere?

Thank you to everyone who has commented and liked my photos :) . I love the scenery of that country and it exceeded all my expectations. I saw a lot and a lot was left to see, those winding roads, mountains, fjords, tunnels, ferries etc...WOW! :D

I can warmly recommend Norway to all motorcyclists and I will definitely go there again!

I am really loving the Samsung S23 Ultra 10x optical zoom with stabilization for wildlife shots.

I’m always interested in and enjoy the wildlife stuff that the US members post up. Do you folk over there see things like mountain lion, bobcats, raccoons, skunk regularly, or are these rare sightings? What about bison and bears?

Depends on the area. Bison are routine in this area. Bobcats are seen in our Arizona area. Coyotes are pretty wide spread as are deer (different varieties). Bears are more common in certain areas. Pronghorn sheep in prairie areas, big horn sheep and Mountain goats in the mountains. Elk in higher regions. Mountain lions are around but more rarely sighted. Racoons, skunks, and possums are nocturnal, and common road kill (along with the deer). Sierra1 can talk about the armadillos...

Interestingly, some species have become much more prevalent in my lifetime. Bald eagles and wild turkeys for example.

He's right. Location, location, location. I live in a rural area, and we have all the "normal" stuff: coyotes, skunks, opossums, armadillos, rabbits, rats/mice, owls, red tailed hawks, vultures, and some sort of crane in the creek. And that's just what's been seen in the yard. We've seen bobcats and grey foxes in the neighborhood. And that doesn't include the various snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, etc. We joke about being able to film Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom in the yard.

I will have to steal that quote from you! I definitely can film Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom in my yard. I have everything but bears and bison here. Have made pretty good friends with some of the animals over the years here. Coons deer squirrels opossum's and lots of birds have come to trust me and the dogs. Not Grizzly Adams trust but enough trust that I have petted several of them at different times.

Been to Sturgis several times but I have never did any of the back country stuff. Always running with Harleys there. I do find the most round about ways to get there in gravel and back roads to meet up with them. Too much going on this year can't make it up there. Have a great time and keep the pictures rolling in for us. Love to see them.

Ah, forgot about the racoons and squirrels. Don't tell P.ET.A. but I've been exterminating squirrels ever since they ate the main wiring harness out of my new, at the time, Jeep. Aim small, miss small. And something takes the squirrels before I even get to them. I call it my night crew. But I've put a squirrel carcass in front of my security cameras . . . . and the squirrel is gone, but nothing triggers the camera. We're leaning towards a snake, but it's gonna have to be a bigun'.

Oh forgot about the huge snake that lived in my shop for a year and a small snake that lived in my old car for a couple summers. Both became pretty good buddies with me and scared the heck out of everybody that came around or rode with me. That did a great job with the mice though! Liked them there! haha.
