Well the old gods had some fun at my expense today.

As i left the motel and went for gas i found my wallet was not in my pocket.

This began an hour long seige:

Search myself.
Search the bike.
Search the entire route from my motel to the gas station.
Get reentry to my room and search the room.
Unpack both panniers and search everything inside.
Unpack my entire Wolfman rolltop duffel and search everything.
Get the hotel to advance me $100 to get home by charging my card on file.
Have a housekeeper help me move all furniture and search the room again (tipped her $20).
Search the bike again.....

It had fallen out of my pants and caught on the rear brake line. It was flapping open in the wind suspended on my rear brake hose. It must have made it all the way to the gas station and back like that!!!!!

I said a prayer of thanks and got on the road, taking 26 over Mt Hood. What a ride! I did most of it at 80mph passing all cars and trucks. The mountain was mine. This is what makes riding worth the risks.

It reminds me when I was 25, I went to the cinema with my cousin to see FIGHT CLUB at the midnight show on my 95 ZX9R Ninja, the movie was awesome and when we get out of the cinema I could not find my keys, we looked literally everywhere, and after 50mn of search, I found the key on the ground right next to my bike :)

Same thing happened to me back in the day with my harley. The key popped out of my pocket next to the bike (in my driveway) and i about tore the entire house apart until i saw it lying there near the bike. The stupid part is i did look there first but somehow missed it.

A quick TET through two provinces in Sweden.
Lakes and historic sites everywhere in these parts of the country.

Good spot for the first coffee break.

Below freezing when I left the house. I should have known....

Another coffee spot at a burial site for a local king some 1,000 years back (channel grave in the back ground).

Close up of one of seven channel graves at this location. I bet the Vikings throw quite a party after erecting this type of structure regardless of the occasion.

Great day trip with my first born.

Just a quick trip up one of the countless mountains around Bergen, Norway. https://goo.gl/maps/LVEdeZr1rFCCYsz67 We did get a bit more snow and cold this year than we bargained for. This much snow would be normal for early march or so. Damn climate change. Guess we get an extra monht on the ten years until disaster... The name of this mountain is Gullfjellet which translates to "Gold Mountain" or "Golden Mountain". I have no idea where the name comes from (although I've lived in this area most of my life and half of my ancestors centuries back as well). Maybe some lovesick swedish poet got a look at it from the eastern slope and thought he'd seen the morning burning golden on the mountain in the skies.

It's a little late in the year for the Rim road to still be closed. Any idea why?
Just checked the web site this morning, finally open. Now I have more three rides on my list before we leave (Rim Road, Control Road up Mt Lemmon, and 191 through the White Mountains), and the wife is talking about moving up departure date.

West of the Great Salt Lake, met two other Super Tenere riders old Continental Railway. 190 miles of dirt. Great weather and trails.
It’s still a rare event to meet up with another Tenere 1200 rider out on the road, although the Tenere 700 is changing that a bit.

I'm bummed! No Pictures! I make it all of the way to St Mary's Glacier (around 10000 ft). Slushy and snow packed roads in spots, especially at the end of the pavement by Silver lake. I get all set up with the lake and the mountain behind the bike (one of those perfect pictures), Bright white snow everywhere, no tracks on the lake, blue skies, pull out my new Iphone and the screen is black. I take off my sunglasses, just in case the screen was just dimed and still nothing. I tried turning it off and on but nothing worked. I knew it was working when I left the house. On the way home, I put the phone in the inside pocket next to my shirt for a bit of body warmth. When I got home the phone worked fine. I guess this Iphone is much more sensitive to low temps, than my Samsung was. I'll have to figure out a warmer place to carry it in colder temps.
