Yesterday it was Bristol then Touisset.
The hotel on Hope Street, formerly known as The Harriet Bradford Inn.
Rooms are $4.95 per night including meals and valet motorbike service. Lies.
This was a temporary home to some immigrant families until construction of the mansions was completed. True.
Bristol is home to the longest continuously held Fourth of July parade in America.
The road dividing lines are painted red white and blue by state permission.
The Parade passes by the hotel. During the weeks around the Fourth the town changes in a manner one must experience to appreciate.
Once upon a time I resided in Bristol for many years. It's always nice to visit.
Bristol has always had a romance with boat building and racing.
Almost every front yard winters a boat. Lies, they are kept in the back yards out of sight.
This one is too big for the back yard. Sorry about the aerial lines, I'm certain the boat hauler hated them too.
"B, B, B I G", John Candy GRHS, in the great outdoors and "It is a big 'un", Hickok45, only begin to describe the 12 meter.
Shamelessly stolen from Lateral Access to the Rhode Island Shore:
"The citizens of Rhode Island are guaranteed by the state constitution the right to use its
shore for fishing, gathering seaweed, bathing, and passage. However, lateral access to the shore
to engage in these protected uses is hindered by an ineffective boundary between public lands
and private property. "
There are access points defined as public rights of way to the shore. You can share them with the crowds.
Some are hidden away at the end of country lanes posted multiple times along the way as Dead End, No Exit, Private Drive Ahead.
My belief is the lack of advance ROW signage is a peace offering to the adjoining private land owners. Understandable.
Look at the size of the marker above the Tênêrê, it's the only one. This is one of the favourite places of my youth. Many good memories.
As teenagers we scoured the countryside for adventure and pleasure. My brother has been all around this place without discovering it.
Yesterday he commented "This must be one of the best kept secrets in America".
Seclusion only exists in minimal fashion in Rhode Island, we are small and concentrated. That's MA in the background with RI in the fore.
You might think gee that spoils the view, imagine this instead: That's the world over there, busy, busy, busy over there, not here.
From the left, the towers are located in Somerset, the bridge (look for it) is the Braga, it connects with Fall River on the right.
A mans home is his castle, still Touisset but on the Massachusetts side. Not my house.
The view from the castle
All the Best.
