I put on a skinny front tire. Hold my beer! 100/90/19
The last set of tires (Mitas E07-Dakar) before my current set, I ran that size front tire and a 140/80-17 rear.
Ran them until they were worn out, and a couple long-distance touring trips. Never noticed any ill-effects from running the narrower tires. They worked well.

It might even have handled more nimbly? The main downside running skinny tires I can think of (as long as you use a higher aspect ratio to keep overall diameter correct) might be reduced load capacity.

When I bought them (was during covid when the OE sizes were hard to find in stock) I checked the load ratings. Were the same as the OE sizes.

This picture shows both narrower tires in use.

Got my bike back from the shop last night, but it was raining so no chance to really crack it open post-dyno. I'm still waiting on the graphs/summary of changes to be emailed to me. They do good work but they're not exactly responsive.

Butt dyno says the power delivery is a lot smoother. It pulls hard in every gear but first is still slightly anemic, as it should be. But I can pop first, second, and third, and be up to 80 before I know it, so the power bands are definitely much better aligned. Two times I felt the bottom slide slightly before grabbing traction again, could have been riding in the wet, could have been the extra pull, I'll figure it out later.

Throttle is way less snatchy though, so, big ups there for the dyno guys I went to.
I got my dyno stuff back finally.

Starting HP was 90, ending HP was 102; +12hp

Now, to be fair, that starting HP was with the aftermarket parts already bolted to it, so it was lean. Arrow Headers + Arrow Exhaust + K&N filter --- when I only had the filter + Delkevic exhaust, there was no noticeable loss in power because the ECU compensated enough for it to not run lean, but once I swapped the new headers on I knew it was going to be a shit show.

He also did a handful of other changes that I asked him to do, Rad fan set at 195, 13.1 AFR over the whole range, Rev limiters upped, timing curve adjusted for 91 octane, fuel/throttle cuts eased which eased the hell out of my engine braking. Overall, after having ridden it a bunch since then, I'm really happy with the changes.

Today? It’s been an ongoing process
In the case of today… I’ve ordered a replacement seat cover with custom stitching and gel padding that I’ll staple onto the original seat when it’s made and arrives.
I’ve bought a few things from them and they’ve turned out to be excellent quality And heaps cheaper than comparable items from the USA.
The postage to Australia is the killer though.

Changed to LED marker lights and replaced a missing spoke nipple. Thanks yo @dragonaut for hooking me up with some overstock spokes and nipples!

Question: I've tightened and ping tested all the spokes but want to actually torque them. Since they're all relatively tight, can I just start at one point and torque around the wheel, or do I need to alternate in a cross pattern?

After running soft bags for so long, I had to refit my hard bumot panniers today for a range trip tomorrow. I got to thinking about it and since I run the soft bags almost all of the time, and really only run the hard panniers when I have loads to carry or need relatively secure aluminum boxes that can 'lock' - maybe my "how do you carry a rifle during hunting season" question is going to be easy to solve.

So I picked up a Kolpin case and the associated mount for it, and physically put it against the rear of my right hard pannier. Fits with room to spare. I took a picture and thought "I could live with that mount living there forever". So once I get back from the range tomorrow, I'm going to start working on fabbing them together. I even did some rough math and considered that I should probably mount it on the right hard pannier given weight distribution being most likely that I'd tip the bike left since I'm less confident on that side than I am on the right, off-concrete.

For anyone else's curiosity, I like to hunt and fish from the bike from time to time, and squirrel is pretty good with a suppressed 10/22 in early and mid-season. And since I ride through Ohio winters... I figure why not.

You brought back a old memory for me! I used to have a Yamaha DT 175 I rode everywhere. I got a soft gun case for Christmas one year and wound up putting my shotgun in that case. I would put a loop that was at the barrel end of the case around my foot peg and the handle hung perfectly over my rear turn signal. I tied it to the frame at that point. Jump on the bike and off squirrel hunting, grouse or rabbit. Worked very well for years that way!

I just finished this project today. I added some new storage to my homemade toolbox cart. Since most of my wrench turning is on the Super Tenere, I figure this counts as an S10 project.

Here's the before shot...

And the new ratchet extension holder to fill up that empty space....

I still have to design and build a rack for the other side of the toolbox cart to hold my torque wrenches.

I just received these the other day....

...so they are the next project for an entry in "what I did to my Tenere today", as soon as the rest of the hose clamps arrive from across the pond.

Apparently those are some aftermarket boxes, not Tenere boxes ?
They are all welded aluminum, brick outhouse tough, made by a guy who got laid off, and was cranking them out from his garage in 2012. The bike has tipped over on both sides and you'd never know, unlike the factory plastic and tinfoil boxes.

If I didn't have these I'd go with something like the Mosko Motos. A friend dropped his bike at well over 60 mph and the little amount of damage was super impressive.

I'm assuming that the only boxes that can't transfer are the "crappy lock" OEs. 'Cuz the Raid Edition "OE" boxes are actually aftermarkets. And that the only difference is the mounting hardware for the specific bike(s). Which if you're a person that doesn't tend to keep a bike, this is the way to go.

Ah well, I'm still seeking a different path. I went out and put the actual gun boot in place to figure out placement of it vs just the mount, and bike on center stand, the case is half an inch from the floor. So it's a no go.

I was just going to edit my post, but the edit settings are aggressive here. Anyway, not going to work. Ah well.
