Just replaced the clutch master piston and seals. You have to install the seals in the kit into the piston. The workshop manual shows the seals oppose each other but the one I took out had them in the same direction. I’ve put them back as I found them and the clutch seems to work ok. Anyone have the definitive answer?

Continuing with my annual summer strip down today. Removed and cleaned the brake calipers, bled and cycled the abs pump and made a start on removing the exhaust for a deep clean. Three of the four exhaust studs came out of the head when I undid them so I’ve ordered 4 new ones with nuts to replace them. I’m not clear if any type of locktite or similar should be used on the end of the stud that goes onto the head.

Wow, that is a deep clean! But why is this not done during the winter when you can't ride? Or do you live somewhere that winter is your riding season. Ever think about just putting an Arrow header on as long as you have the exhaust off?

The S10 is my winter hack so she needs a good going over in the summer whilst I ride my Zx14r. I’ve already got a full Arrow system on her but a couple of winters have taken their toll. During the winter I do the same to my Zx14r

Ahhhhhh, that makes perfect sense. I see where you live now. That probably makes for some wet riding in the winter! Do they put salt down on the roads? In those riding conditions you ever think about jet coating your headers to preserve them?

Do y'all not have bugs? Or does it rain that often? I have to clean my visor at least bi-weekly or I can't hardly see.
Yes, plenty of bugs but it’s cooler weather at the moment so not so many around. Usually more at night to get the numbers but you get some big thumpers during the day as well.
Funny story about a small group of us who ride together And were on a back country road and, while on intercom, hear a massive THWACK that we assumed came from the lead rider.
It was something around the same size as the mosquito near the start of Caveman (with Ringo Starr)

New rear pads complete with new shims and backing plates. Way easier install with all new parts. A little trip up to the state border to break them in.

Installed two new Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires, new set of rear brakes and one front brake pad, seems like everything turned out well but will be taking it for a test ride shortly. Seem to be just about ready for the Alaska trip.
