Hauled it from Northern Illinois to Northern Georgia. About 3 hrs of rain total and 1 mile of hail... thought my windshield was going to be busted. Hopefully the back country routes won't be total mud. I take a back route for part of the way so I can cross the Ohio River on a free ferry.

Last Thursday I picked up my steed at my favorite mechanics garage who installed my Denali D3's (I should specify - he wired them) - he installed the Denali DialDim with all the effects/options that this unit provides (amazing - i have to adjust the DialDim (which will do shortly) he installed my engine guard and also wired my Garmin Zumo XT I did the hard work I installed the wiring for my heated vest and the wireless unit.

Ready to roll rode about 90KM following its pick up still pretty cold in Montreal but warming up quickly 2023 season is officially open !

Big Bill there are 10 bolts to unscrew I would have to say NO to your question I believe the Altrider unit only has 8 bolts to unscrew. Since I have not had the chance to remove the skid plate for an oil change yet, my comment might not be relevant I will report back in about 6K KM - thanks

Good luck in your search I'm not sure who else make a skid plate for the T 12 SW Motech maybe I know there are a couple of other brands as well all the best !

Put a new Anakee wild on the back a few weeks ago. Took the bike for its MOT last week. It passed ok but the tester showed me a nail in the new tyre which was leaking and not repairable. Had to order another new tyre. £165 ffs

T-Rex Racing makes a skid plate that has an access panel for the oil filter and cut outs for the drain plugs. They work as advertised. And it's pretty tough kit. I'm hoping to test at Romney in May.

Sorted out a front fender interference issue. Recently installed a new fender after beating the original to pieces. A couple off road rides and I see this..

My first inclination is it must be hitting the RideOnAdv plate under full compression. After further inspection, I see the Wolo Horn installed by the PO has also been chipped away. After measuring it is pretty clear the cross over brake hose has been hitting the horn, forcing the tip of the fender into the tire.

I was able to move the horn to the side and keep everything clear.

I guess the PO never planned to use all of the suspension. Even I have lots of miles on it before having my issues in the last year.

Was able to clean up the fender, simply shortening it about an inch. Need to either paint the bracket or just cover it with dirt...

Put a new LiFePo battery from Batterystuff.com in it a few days ago. I decided to test out a forum members advice...you can remove the battery without removing the AltRider lower bars. Yep, tight but it can be done. Even with filming it took maybe 30 minutes. I videoed it for the forum and also recorded the difference between starting the bike with an original battery in a 2017 (6-7 yr old AGM lead acid) and a new LiFePo. Easily hear the difference. Starter should last longer as less amp draw now... and it won't leave me stranded!!!

Today I road tested the EBC HH brake pads I fitted all around a couple days ago. I’ve only had OEM pads on the bike so far (90K miles) but Yamaha is very proud of them, especially the fronts. I also felt they were a bit high effort with a very soft initial bite, so decided to try the EBCs.

First impressions after about 50 miles use is that I like them. Better initial bite and braking force seems to increase more linearly with lever/pedal effort. It only took a few stops to recalibrate myself. No funny noises, and a smooth feel.

As far as longevity, I’m betting they’ll wear faster than OEMs based on experience with them on other bikes I’ve owned, but time will tell. Well pleased overall.

I have EBC HH pads on all my bikes. They last a good bit for normal riding but if you use them a lot in a lot of twisty roads for days and you smell hot brakes then they won't but they do their job quite well. Yours will feel much better after you get them seated in...
