First static drop test tonight. Put the right foot down at a dark intersection, nothing there. First chip in my one day old Safari II's. In the lift, the bars wound up twisted a little. Is the fix still putting the wheel up against a door jam and giving a shove? If it wasn't for the bags the bike would have completely pancaked. Threw me into the next lane over! Sheesh. Didn't install the grab handles. Full lift was on the bars.

Had about a 500 mile weekend, including about 50 miles of dirt. The SuperT did it all fie, despite the poor-running condition I have had since I did the TBS procedure. Today I will dig back into it and see if I have a vacuum leak or what.

How accurate is your compass? I tried 2 and both had a 30-40 degree error when mounted at the base of the right turn signal stalk.

Yes, the rear is the K60 that was on the Strom. If you remember the S10 "shagged the shinko". Will be doing a report soon on the blog http://supertenere1200.com

BTW - I measured the tread depth from new - but now can't remember if it was 9mm or 11mm. I think 9 - but do you have access to a new one that you could measure for me?

thanks

It's totally unrealiable when driving... since it's to tilt-sensitive and acceleration and deceleration affect swinging so much, it's off about the 30-40 degree you're having.

But hey, if you want a bicycle bell and it comes with a compass, who can resist that... ;D

Bad forest

Which lights do you have mounted below the headlights? I need lights that will reachout and touch the road.

OEM side cases look good.

I got a simple OEM PIAA set.

http://www.yamaha-motor.be/be/fr/binary/2011-Yamaha-XTZ1200-accsheet-EU-EN_tcm208-446335.pdf

Part number: 23P-854A3-00-00

they work out fine since I use them as nearby fog lighting and give nice wide spread flood light effect. Long range my high beam surpasses so no use in that field. But as a fog light... perfect fit.

Thanks on the OEM cases... I think they look and fit like a charm... the liner is nice and handy. I always put them on and always have a friend asking me if he can leave this or that when we stop somewhere. It's nice. ::026:: for Yamaha on the cases, I say.

I just installed the OEM heated grips and found the directions to be ‘ok’ at best.

Here are some of the frustrations I had with the install, help is appreciated.

-They have you drill the right handlebar, but I never figured out why. I read the directions twice and the hole is never brought up again. Did I miss something? Also, the picture to drill shows the left handlebar even though the written instructions say to drill the right :( Any ideas what this is for?

-The throttle sticks now and I think it’s because the grip wire gets jammed up in the new throttle body. There is a reference about making sure the wire comes off the grip opposite of the throttle cable connectors. The grip was glued on and appears to be correct. Has anyone else had this problem or can you share some advice? Sticky throttle sounds scary even though it’s like having cruise control for free ;D

I have the heated grip kit but have not installed them yet. I have read the instructions and noticed the right grip wire has two rubber grommets inline. The illustration shows how the wire is twisted in a loop and the two grommets are held by the housing. It also says to use moly grease on the wire where it is looped. Maybe check this and make sure you have it right.

Please let us know what you find.

The loop has fittings that would prevent it from moving once in place. I will add the grease to the cable before that loop and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the suggestion as it reminding me about the grease comment in the instructions. It didn't make sense to me to add grease to the fold so I decided to temperarily skip it.

BTW, since you have not installed, I would suggest you skip the "drilling" of the handlebars until you are sure it is needed. If it is, you will have to remove some parts, but it's not too much added work.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Problem solved. The throttle housing was slightly pinching a plastic washer that sits between the grip and throttle housing. It was pinching under the bars at the throttle seam. As soon as I loosened the bolts, it popped out and moved freely. I greased the wiring and put it all back.

I didn't actually did it myself..
My friend who is specialized in instruments LEDs conversion did it for me..

It's quite straight forward, as in de-solder and existing orange LED and replace with the colour you like..
As for the screen, it's just flipping of the polarizing film..

Do post a how to if you manage to do it!!
