I know I found George to be pretty unshakable on a dirt road. I have no doubt he'd be a good ride leader for you Alan anytime schedules would allow it to happen.
I had to stay close before the Dirt Dads wake of dirt rises to edible levels..lol.. I don't mind following the local riders that know the roads since I usually learn where the better roads are as well as get an education on some of the towns ...

Well that didn't take long... not hardly and hours job. Seat Concepts has got an excellent fitting foam and covers. Now ready for the ride test tomorrow. ::001::

I removed the new foam from the box and left the covers in the plastic shipping bag setting in the sun to warm. I pried out the staples from the OEM rider seat and removed them all the way with a pair of side cutters.

Then I test fitted the new foam on the seat pan after removing the old foam and sprayed a light coat of 3M77 glue on the front and rear edges of the seat pan and a light coat on the foam in the same area. I didn't spray any glue on the sides as I knew most of the pulling and fitting would put the foam nicely in its place.

I have a pneumatic stapler but it is of an older version of the Harbor Freight and takes wider staples that they no longer carry. So I used my electric stapler with 1/4" T-50 staples. It has a depth setting knob on top and I tested it out on the old cover before removing it. Full + setting was used for nicely seated staples.

I fitted the cover on the rear of the seat and stretched the front in place and centered the cover using the marks provided on the underside of the cover. A few staples up front then three more in the rear gave me the front to back tension I wanted. Working from one side to the other I massaged the cover to the lowest most points first and worked it so the seams were just at the break over edge towards the rear of the seat and the wrinkles were removed stapling as I went.

Just a few adjustments were needed while fitting as the cover it a really good fit and easy to work with. Fifteen minutes tops on fitting the front and the rear seat was easier as I used the OEM foam.

Great description. Thanks!

And thanks for the congratulatory comments from everyone. I appreciate it. Ride safe.

Today I did the seat mod (http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=1465.msg252566#msg252566).

I didn't glue the chair buffers to the base of the seat, I used some velcro discs I bought in Homebase at the same time I bought the chair buffers, to secure them. I also bought some felt pads for the seat tongue, but havent used them so far as I wanted to give the seat a good try out first.

I went for a quick 50 mile run, no probs so far.

Here are the parts I bought in Homebase; http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/chair-buffers---4-pack-585241

I used the same chair buffers, but they 'squished' within a few weeks, I now use 15mm hard case rubber feet and they seem better.......

Thanks for that info, I'll keep an eye on mine and see how they go. Using the alternate Yamaha part as used here http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=2306.0 might be the way forward if the chair buffers aren't up to the job.

I did the $1.50 mod and it seems to be working. Taped three quarters to the two front pads and it leveled the seat out a bit and I didn't loose any height.

Test rode the Seat Concepts install for 250 miles, killed many large bugs. Really like the no sloping forward of the seat.
Stopped at a Yamaha dealer in Searcy, AR and purchased a throttle lock. Installed it when I returned.
Did a little fabrication work for a holding plate and it works great.
