I found one Wally-world in my area that carries MC oil. I got Mobil 1 4T the other day for $9.99 a bottle.
I've considered running Rotella T6, like I do on the KLR, but I decided to no me cheap on this bike (understanding that I may be pissing money away)
With all these stories of leaky, longer filters, I'm gonna stick to genuine Yamaha filters until things settle out and we have a reliable list of filters that are the right size and don't leak.
I tried T6 in my KLR (Used to use it in my LS1 Swapped RX7 too and loved it) but gave me major problems with the clutch friction zone. It just would not stay consistent and tended to grab at different places. Switched to the Valvoline 20w50 synthetic motorcycle oil and it's like butter now. I know there is a big controversy over using Rotella, that's just my personal experience with it. I put the Mobil 1 4T in the S10 cause it's a high dollar mistress.

Got my second valve inspection done, at 46,000 miles. On the first inspection at 25K, valves were in spec. This time, had 1 loose and 1 tight exhaust valves. Installed the revised Cam Chain Tensioner and new spark plugs while in there. This was dealership work and the only maintenance I pay a dealer to do. This is at Yamaha of Las Vegas where the only new motorcycle brand they carry is Yamaha/Star. I didn't buy the bike there (probably should have), but they're happy enough to take my money for service work.

I asked them about installing the 2014 clutch basket, but they said no. They couldn't warranty 2014 parts on a 2012 bike. The CCT, on the other hand, is a revised part, so that's OK. Just as well. I'm sure the clutch basket parts are much cheaper from ProCaliber.com and I'm happy to do that R&R job myself. Hopefully the parts will arrive by this weekend.

I installed my new Holan Nomada Pro boxes. I chose the bed blasted stainless steel racks. Installation was easy and Jason was great to work with.

What bracket are you using for the rigid sr. Just a few days I bought is from eBay but don't know what bracket to fit it.

I used the brackets that come with the SR... But, I did put them in a vise and bent them at an angle so they would like up the the light bolts and the forward bolts on the oem headlight.

Installed the 2014 clutch basket in my 2012 bike. Between the revised clutch basket and Cam Chain Tensioner, this 46,000 mile bike is now smoother and quieter than when new.

Finally finished the initial setup of the bike today. Installed the new EO7 front and reinstalled a rear I had around that I had taken off the last (deerly departed) Tenere. Also installed the Seat Concepts foam/cover. As of this minute there is nothing left on the list to buy or do to it.

The non-Dakar E07 front is way less stout than the Dakar. I ordered it my mistake. Hope that doesn't turn out to bite me later. The side wall was far thinner than the Dakar. It did make for a very easy install, but that side wall is probably the thinnest I've ever installed...almost floppy.

I had the Mitas E07 Dakar on my Vstrom and while on a trip noticed this cut in the sidewall . Trip was about 2000 miles total and this was not there when I left home as I would have noticed being close to valve stem , I don't know how long it was there but I rode about 300 miles home from VT like this at a slowed pace and it held air but was definitely a concern. The minimal off roading I did was just fire road stuff, and was not in any areas where I was concerned about someone slicing the tire . The sidewalls are strong so don't know if it could have just split, but figured I would post to keep an eye on them. They had about 5 k on them when this happened. I have run multiple sets and would like to think this was just an isolated case and plan on running them again on my new Tenere....
