I left to Arizona yesterday night and I had to abort my trip. Rode 2 hours and I was like “there’s no way” . Mainly because of the shoulder and back pain due to the fact that the previous owner lowered the fork. I thought “no big deal”, I was wrong. I’m also thinking of getting bar risers. The other thing is the fact that I was not prepared for the cold. I need a bigger windshield , a good mid layer and better gloves. I’m also thinking of ditching the side bags for a top box. I feel like the side bags are acting as “parachutes”. I may be wrong. Anyway, I finally installed my top box and I’ll test. View attachment 107611View attachment 107612View attachment 107613
When I first tried longer rides on my 2014 I was experiencing upper-back and shoulder pain due to the sweep of the factory Yamaha Handlebar.
I ended up going with a ProTaper ADV Bar with a better sweep. I do not experience any upper body pain while riding anymore.
I can ride for weeks at a time on this bike now.

If I had the choice of side cases or a top-box, and all my stuff would fit into the top-box I would choose that....... Keep in mind it will raise your center of mass, loading all your stuff up there though.
It's a tradeoff for better aero.
Good luck with the Bike, and hopefully you get to take your Arizona trip!

I saw your thread about the ADV bar. I just don't have a garage and the tool to install it. :( I also don't trust mechanics. Regarding the top box, yes the center of gravity is higher but it seems like the wind is less of a problem.

Ordered a Puig screen to replace my original. It was supposed to fit 2012-onwards and I took a punt on it fitting with the 2012 being Gen-1.
Turns out that the holes for it are about 2 inches wider on each side.
I had tried to swap the brackets over from one side to the other and put on a90-degree plastic bracket thinking that would do the job to fit- but it doesn’t.
So now I’m thinking of using either some strip aluminium bent to match the curvature to go across using the designated holes - or drill holes in the proper place and plug up the existing.

I installed a Givi ES2119 side stand support that I received as a Christmas present today. Also reinstalled my Givi SRA2101 top case rack using a different set of instructions and blue loctite.

Sounds like you received the wrong generation screen. Is it possible to return it for the correct one?

Having looked at the screen, I figured that I couldn’t be bothered trying to send it back and go through the wait for another, so I got some thin aluminium and covered it with some thick heat shrink after bending it to match the profile of the screen.
I haven’t ridden with it yet although the rails aren’t in my line of sight and I think it should work OK.

it is mandatory , for the bike its 7 dollars , then you go to the tax office to get your tags or the local grocery store (which is easier and faster ) who can issue them for you.cost 58 dollars . and proof of insurance is required , and you are done .
