Unloaded in AZ. As expected, tarped up so the weather was great the whole way. I was off loading by myself and for the life of me could not budge it out of the wheel chalk. Finally resorted to a strap clamp with rocking to pull it back. Still a bear... What an idiot! Still in gear!!

Working my way through some winter maintenance. Cycled the ABS pump and bled the rear brake (twice). Ran out of brake fluid, front will be bled in a day or two. Also cleared the ABS pump housing drain holes while there.

I have never bothered cycling the ABS pumps on my motos or cars. I've always assumed that the amount of fluid held within the pumps was fairly trivial compared to the total system volume. Am I wrong on this?

I don't know if it is important to cycle the ABS like you may need to if you have air in the system but I do believe that if the spools just sit inside that housing they may get stuck. So I activate them ever single time down my drive front and rear separate so I can tell how each is working and to just keep things moving.

My thinking is that brake fluid absorbs water, which sitting in the ABS for long periods of time, may cause corrosion and also rot seals. Might be complete nonsense, but it’s not much bother cycling it every now and again.

Yeah, I test my abs fairly frequently when riding offroad. :p
I’ve done just over 50k miles on my Super Tenere since owning it and I doubt I’ve activated the ABS half a dozen times whilst riding. We don’t really have much opportunity for off road riding in the UK, certainly nowhere near to what seems to be available in the US and Australia.

I left to Arizona yesterday night and I had to abort my trip. Rode 2 hours and I was like “there’s no way” . Mainly because of the shoulder and back pain due to the fact that the previous owner lowered the fork. I thought “no big deal”, I was wrong. I’m also thinking of getting bar risers. The other thing is the fact that I was not prepared for the cold. I need a bigger windshield , a good mid layer and better gloves. I’m also thinking of ditching the side bags for a top box. I feel like the side bags are acting as “parachutes”. I may be wrong. Anyway, I finally installed my top box and I’ll test. 12fc3b3e-3ae4-4a18-ad8f-8a48a4706896.jpegE63EE697-87B2-4574-889D-101491BBE65C.jpeg3B8EE8E6-BA11-430A-B3BE-9650B4EA8665.jpeg

Yeah, side cases are not aerodynamic. Especially with a head wind. The lower outer corners are what are hangin' out there. I can tell, 'cuz that's where all the bugs splat. That top box looks big enough to deliver pizzas and keep them warm. :D

Florida to Arizona....sounds like a great ride! Right now I've got a Givi 47L top case on my '23 and plan to get some side cases before I head out on my first week long ride with the new bike. Where in FL are you? I'm in St Augustine and have a small group I ride with from northern FL.
