Today I commuted to work on my S10 for the first time. I'm new to motorcycles, so of course I'm new to my S10. Everything is new to me! The only issue is...in my car I grab a cup of coffee for work...have to make adjustments to that routine. I'm willing to adapt!

After nearly a month of being layed up with a blown shock, and leaking fork seals, my Super Tenere is finally road ready. It also got valve shims and a new CCT, rear tire and brakes. Hyperpro shock was ordered June 6 and arrived 27th.View attachment 56740
Did you purchase from Jon at Accelerated tech?
I will be sending my Yacugar (same as hyperpro) out next winter for a refresh and it will be good to know he has done one for a Tenere. I think I want to have it revalved slightly and am hoping he has the some stack data on hand. Curious to hear how you like it after you get some miles on it.

New set of Shinko 705 for my MABDR trip in July. So much easier to mount than those Mitas Dakars.
And I changed engine and gear oil. For the first time the gear oil looked like new (at 29,000 miles). Anytime before it had looked like sludge. I wonder if it is the fancier version of Yamaha gear oil I used. Perhaps I shouldn't have finished the old bottle I had left from when I owned a V-Star.

Yes, got it from Accelerated. They were very helpful, had it custom built in Holland and drop shipped to me to arrive before my trip. Totally impressed with the performance without touching the fine tune get.

That tire looks like the tread still has a few thousand miles in it. How about a worm?

Thanks to you and EricV, and a string plug, I got a few more months and 2100+ miles out of that beat up E07 Dakar. ~9k total. Put an old one back on that had about that much left. The plug looked perfect on the inside. It was a bear breaking the bead.

Curious @gv550 what did the shock set you back for pricing? It's time for me to get mine serviced or swapped out.

It was costly, but I asked for expedited shipping and there was discussion about overtime charge to get it built ahead of que but I needed it and they delivered. The hydraulic adjuster is extra too. It was (cough) $1700 C all in.

Ha, and i didn't take my own advice. Found a similar nail in my equally worn rear E07 Dakar, plugged it with a worm, but then decided to take it off and replaced it with a fresh Shinko for a 3,000+ mile trip. I already had the new tire and didn't want to risk hauling home on a slick.

But it was good to practice an successful worm insertion. First time on a motorcycle tire, and they are easy to use and create a safe seal. Also interesting to see it afterwards on the inside.

I just did my forks - replaced the bushing, springs with Stoltec Moto, and seals with SKF. Like it quite a bit now, though I only got a little riding in.

Replaced both tires a week ago. Shinko 705 Rear. Full Bore MST Trail Master (Rebranded Shinko 705) on Front. Was the first motorcycle tires I did myself. Spooned them off, spooned new ones on. Regreased parts and checked spokes...Took it to a shop for balancing and to double check my work....
Noticed my handlebars were slightly off to the right when riding straight after remounting and testing new tires.
standing in front of bike front tire between my knees..aligned the tire to bars by muscling it a little till it was straight.
Changed front and rear brake and clutch fluids. Went out for a ride to test in large parking lot. And to activate ABS pump while testing brakes...On way back road was open so I opened it up some and started feeling death wobble at 110 mph recovered then sped up to be sure and it happened again.... Next day (yesterday) loosened top steering nut then pinch bolts down the forks except very top triple tree pinch bolts, caliper bolts, front fender bolts, then axle. Had bike on rear paddock stand...sat on bike and pushed down several times in center of handlebars to align front end.....retorqued everything back to specs. ....then went on a spirited ride.....Death wobble still there but not nearly as bad and handlebars aligned better with front wheel. Bike rolled down the road better.
Then synced throttle bodies with my new Grok Harmonizer!
Death Wobble still bothered me. It bothers even more because it can be sooooooo many things! Started reading everything I could and came across something interesting about death wobble at high speed being caused by improper tire pressure. So....checked pressure and front was to spec. at 33 psi. Rear was about 35psi. Specs. on frame call for 43 psi. I usually keep it at 40psi before tire change. So fill with air to specs. took it out just a while ago...bike ran even smoother yet and it seems no death wobble at high speeds!
Now for the funny part...when putting on left front fairing/side panel to finish the job after throttle body sync; I heard the sound of something dropping like a bolt.....Along my maintenance I did find a couple of bolts that were loose in various places just due to riding and probably needing loctite so my mind was wondering what it could be because I looked over the bike pretty good with my maintenance. Then just kind of shook it off to it was probably just something snapping together as I put the fairing on..no big deal...Thought about taking that left fairing panel off to check as looking through and under the bike couldn't see anything missing...I had been outside all day, it was 99F outside and I was getting eaten by a swarm of mosquitoes. And getting those darn fairing panel screws to thread always works my last nerve! Called it quits for the day.
But....I can't leave well enough alone and it bugged me all evening. Decided I'll get up today and double check. Got up got my tools took off the fairing panel....looked all around check everything. Nothing so I put things back together. Decided to start the bike to hear any changes from my throttle body sync. Ran the bike till the fan came on. Shut it down.....then I heard like a clanking sound that matched the shutting down of the bike kind of like a starter tooth going bad. Eyeballed the starter. Looked fine. Restarted bike. Started fine...bike sounded perfect...then shut it down and didn't here anything unusual. Still bugged me!!!! Looked all around then...I saw it!....a nice size washer in the Rumbux skid plate!!! I matched the color of the inside of the skid plate and was in the center under the oil reservoir. Fished it out. Had no idear where it could've come from. Nice size washer....and did a bolt come out to go with the washer. Was too big for anything in/on the starter....then a light bulb turned on in my head what it was.....I bet it was the washer for the bolt that holds the gas tank down. The washer that goes on the rubber washer. (1 on each side). Check the right side...metal washer still there....left side (all without removing anything).....and YEP that IS what it was!!!!!! It fell when putting things together the first time. Then when I shut down the bike this morning...fell again in to the skid plate front the engine being shut down! Didn't reinstall it, but I will next week when I clean my Unifilters.....
Next went on a spirited high speed ride and bike ran as better as ever!!!!

I just finished torquing the last bolt on the bike on my first tire change. Original Battlewings lasted 13748 miles. I could have squeezed another 1500-2k out of the front. No odd wear or bumps. Rear was flat and just about to hit the wear bars.
Spooned on some Michelin Road 5 Trail. Ill keep everyone posted if anyone is interested. Have a great ride everyone.

Like the idea of using the book as a cushion for the jack. Going to steal that.

BTW noticed you took both calipers off, you can get away with only taking the right side off. Not a huge time saver, but thought Id mention it.
