Finished the first stage in getting my homemade top rack made. Mounted it up and happy with the result so far. I will further lighten it up over the winter with more mounting holes and counter sink the mounting bolts to make a nicer smooth surface. Probably put some grip tape on top as well.
I too made a large plate for my bike, then ended up never really using it. (needs strapping things down all the time)
I prefer a trunk on my bikes, even vs side bags. I can always add a large bag in front of the trunk if needed.
A large plate might help if hauling camping gear a lot. (I don't 'camp')

Threw a drill extra battery and screws in the trunk and rode out to finish installing a new bridge on the MTB trail.

Just changed all my fluids on my new used 2016. Installed my gen1 madstad bracket and my new used gen1 tinted tall parabellum windshield the other day. Next is all the little stuff I kept off my wrecked 2016. My new E07 Dakars came the other day. They'll go on after another. 1000 miles or so. Perfect riding weather right now.

Synced the throttle bodies and changed the coolant. On the TBs, I turned the white screw all the way in again. 1/4 or3/4 out? I don't think I was able to notice the difference after the last sync.
And after reading lots of coolant flush threads I also went straight by the manual (except I didn't remove the reservoir): No flush, just drain and refill, with an open hug of Preston 50/50 I had at hand. I am sure it will be just fine.

Went on a three state day trip across NJ, PA, NY.

Highlight was Bear Mountain State Park in NY:

My old stomping grounds! I grew up in Somers, NY with cousins in Rockland Co and always enjoyed the road up to Bear Mountain bridge.

I just buttoned up the bike after installing an Eastern Beaver 3CS, heated gear socket, USB port, gps, and aux lights with a Skene controller. Now I have to dig into the manual to figure out how to reset the clock ;)

I have a 2014 also and I did 3/4 turn out to start but ended up using 1/2 turn out last time. 3/4 turn out left gas residue in the vacuum cap on the right side. After some experimenting, 1/2 turn out was the sweet spot for my bike. I also have a Yoshimura slip on and the ECU flashed by Anthony, not sure if those are factors or not.

As for the coolant, I am sure you will be fine. You did your coolant change early enough so that it shouldn't be sticky. If you leave the coolant in too long, it gets sticky and that is when you should flush it out a few times. I am planning on doing my coolant next season.

I too always run a bag or box on the back of my bikes for the same reason. I have a Moose adventure bag that came with the purchase of the tenere. My bum leg really benefits from the slightly lower rear plate. So much easier to swing it over, even with the bag on the rear. I also never have a passenger so no real need for a passenger seat.

Finally took a trip out to Loudoun county to ride on some "gravel" roads. With my new E-07s mounted. What a good time that was. I know why you guys like it so much, now. I think next time I'll be less worried, too.

Good guy. Builds a good seat. Luckily I live close enough to do a Ride In... then off to Rd A16 and Hwy 36.

Mounted some "Grip Puppies" to reduce vibrations but mostly to increase grip diameter. My mom always said I have hands like toilet lids, so the stock grips were a little skinny and recent hand surgery made them hardly more comfortable.
But they are lying when they say on the package you don't need a compressor to mount. Tried without and exhausted my repertoire of swear words. Then checked YouTube and fired up the compressor. And they slid right on :)

Pictures?

I am installing the wrap around grip buddies tomorrow (made specifically for the S-10) and would like to compare notes.

try some dish soap drop in water... thoroughly wet the grips and foam puppies and slide them on an inch...
now use a dry rag to grip the puppies and they slide right on.
the trick is using a dry rag as you will not be able to pull the foam grips on with out it.

:)

I am sure that works too, but compressed air makes this literally a 15 second job.
