Cold and snowy yesterday but went out to the shed anyway and fitted the Yamaha LED indicators that Santa bought for me. Had to strip off most of the back end of the bike to get at all the wiring loom too, which was interesting to do at -2C. Also had to make up two small extension leads to go between the connector block (next to the ABS unit) and ends of the indicator leads, as even with the resistors, they were about 8" too short. Still, I had my music on loud, my phone on silent and mugs of hot tea delivered by No.1 daughter, so I had ended up having a great time . ::008::

Took a chilly ride to the North Georgia Mountains. Just to make sure the gas in the tank doesn't get old and everything stays nicely lubricated.

How was the weather in GA Mountains? I've been to Helen and Summerville, both beautiful places, would buy some land and build a cabin there in a heartbeat. I plan on using the same reason soon to make a 7 day round trip to florida - hopefully in between the impending snow doom here in the mid-atlantic. Probably going to get a heated vest, then take 66w to Winchester, 81 down through Knoxville, to Chattanooga to Birmingham, then Montgomery, then straight on 'til morning south on 331 to Destin, FL for a week on the gulf with family. Just to make sure the gas in the tank doesn't get too old :)

I installed a set of .95 Sonic Springs. Thanks to my wife for a second pair of hands. The only real tough part was pulling the damper rod up thru the spring and reattaching the top cap (while compressing the spring). That was a bear and I never would have been able to do it without her. I also checked the torque and grease in the steering head. Lube was fine. Heard stories of the nuts only being finger tight, but mine were as they should be. After I buttoned it all back up I threw on a pair of Shock Sox.

Now, if this 25 degree fog would just blow away, I'll take her out for a ride and see how it all feels!

Nice on Saturday when I was out. I should have worn my heated liner, but didn't freeze without it.
Sunday was a bit cooler.
today, it's going to be chilly, but we've been having an unseasonably warm, but wet, winter. lakes that are normally drained low to have room for the spring thaw are at full pool.
it's been really nice for motorcyclists.

I got out for about 250 miles of mixed dirt roads, twisties and slab Saturday.

Tore the girl apart, well yesterday I did. Today I mailed off the forks to Cogent Dynamics to be rebuilt. In the mean time I'm inspecting/replacing seals, bearings and whatever else I can think of or find. Thinking some new tires may be in order when I get everything back together.

Yesterday it was low 40s and today it was freezing in Atlanta. Not great for riding, but we had 70s at Christmas, and so the area is often pretty good to get out in the Winter. Never a need to be concerned that your gas is getting bad.

Took a desert ride (offroad) through Jawbone Canyon, found some really slick mud that turned one the guys front tire into a racing slick (he fell down). Followed by a roller coster country road for a few miles and then headed home. About 300 miles total, Good ride. ::021::

A nice day so went out for a ride, then met up with friends at the Ace Cafe north London, for a few hours of drinking coffee and talking crap :)

I added a pair of Givi 37 Trekker Outback cases and started the install of the Givi skid plate. Got a notice that my seat was delivered back from Seth Laam seats; gotta get out to the shipping department to pick it up and have a look at it.

I put on my custom made handlebars for the first time.

3.25" (83mm) higher than stock.

Now I have to lengthen everything, except throttle cables. You can just turn them downward.
Wires are easy to lengthen, and I figured a way to lengthen the brake lines cheaply.
Very comfortable position now. Being 6'3", and a long torso for my height, it really helped.

The Tenere has ruined other bikes for me. Everything else just seems small and uncomfortable. Damn Yamaha. ::013::

Now that I have some miles since I did the work, I can unequivocally recommend the 2014 clutch basket and TB sync for Gen 1 models. My bike is so smooth now, it reminds me of riding my last FJR!

I finished installing and testing a Rostra cruise control on my 2012 Tenere. The project was made much easier by those who came before me and documented the process. I ended up using installation suggestions from three different sources posted in this forum and over on ADVRIDER. It's really nice for those longer stretches of straight road and the occasional times when the freeway is the best option to get from A to B.

Accumulated parts, Jaxon's brake & clutch lines in preparation for the Pro-Taper Evo Adventure bars. Probably end up with the Ram mount style mirrors by spring also.
