Fitted Pro Taper Contour bars, hoping they put a stop to the severe neck/shoulder ache I have been getting. It was so bad after a 300 mile ride last weekend that I'm still a bit sore today! I'm told on here that the severe sweep back on the stock bars is probably the cause. Hope so as I'm off on a 2000 mile trip in two weeks ::26::
Are they the Pro Taper Contour Raptor handlebars http://www.protaper.com/products/handlebars/contour ?

Also, what year is your Tenere?

New 2015 ES.

Thursday - Friday: Rode 711 miles (1,111 total miles) mainly on twisty / back roads. Rode alone so I got to choose where to ride, my pace, where and when I stopped. Beautiful.
Saturday: Side Wind Deflectors arrived. Installed easy enough. Rode on the freeway... definitely a positive difference of not having them.
Sunday: Ride maybe :)

Yesterday I took a ride through the stunning Yorkshire Dales, across to the equally stunning but very different Lake District, about 170 miles in total.

Arrived home and repositioned the Akrapovic pipe which now sits and looks neater :)

That should be great off the line but may be a 'bit' slow steering through the bends ::025::

Let us know how this week's ride goes, and did you change the lines or were the stock ones ok? as I'm think of going this route and does the end need to be tapped to refit the handguards?
No lines needed to be changed and that includes fitting 30mm risers. I had to buy new bar ends on ebay designed for these type of bars which are 22mm at the ends with an internal diameter of 13mm.

That may be what happened with yours Tim, you got the ATV Low bend. So you got the less pull back you needed, but they're very low, almost looked lower than oem.
Up against the oem bars my ATV low bend are just about the same height, but as you say way less pull back

No I did a lot of research when I selected the Raptors. If I am correct I was the first to post about purchasing the Pro Taper Contour Raptors. They were the closest bend to the 1st Gen KLR handlebar. After installing the Raptor with a 1" up and 1" back Rox Riser. They still did not fit like I would like. They are still on the 2012 I traded-in for the 2015 ES.

I am guessing that the sweep I need for the 'long reach' Tenere handlebars is different than the sweep is for the 'close reach' KLR handlebars. Looking for a handlebar with a flatter sweep and pulled back.

The Super Tenere does not provide a bent elbow riding position. I am seat in a very relaxed position on the 2005 KLR.

I'm using the Contour ATV Lows with Rox risers and the bend is excellent but still not high enough for standing long priods of time. Not sure how tall you are, I'm 5'8" on a good day and I feel hunched over a bit when standing. Sitting is almost perfect and probably would be with the Mids.

Comfort
...Using the windshield bracket... spaced the top of the stock windshield forward 1/8". Used rubber washers. Will most likely have to go another 1/8" but did not have more washers.

Preventative Maintenance
...Removed, Lubed, Reinstalled the shifter

ATV BENDS BLACK PLATINUM SILVER GOLD A B C D E F
ATV LOW 02-7969 02-7970 02-7971 02-7972 813 95 67 229 60 200
ATV MID 02-7973 02-7974 02-7975 02-7976 813 108 70 236 56 200
ATV HIGH 02-7977 02-7978 02-7979 02-7980 813 121 70 236 55 200
Raptor 02-7981 02-7982 02-7983 02-7984 813 143 115 236 87 200

The Raptor is almost 2 inches higher than the Low.

Gonna go to the dealership and test handlebars without mounting them.

Will definitely have concerns/problems the height of the handlebars and the length of the Clutch, Brake, and Wiring.

Cost vs Comfort

Pulled wheels for tire swap to knobbies for the coming weekend. Taking the wife off road... Kenda Big Blocks for me, TKC-80s for her.

Something is definitely missing!

Installed new OEM panniers. That was more difficult than expected and I have installed them before on a 2012. Another one off the list of add-ons.
