Twisties was close only because i cock blocked him as much as I could. He's my brother so he won't run over me. WOT on straight away the ST will only do 130ish and the BB will run 170ish. He smoked me like i didn't exist. But he can wheelie as long as me.. so there.. haha..

Finally have enough time off work to button her up and take it out of storage and set up the alt rider passenger seat rack. took a bunch of specialized adv bike shims (aka 3/8" stainless washers lol) to get the racks aligned to on level deck.

still lots to do, including setting up a jesse top box/rotopax can, racks for the jesses, and mounting and wiring up a set of amber baja sII lights on the crash bars to complement the squadrons all through a skeene controller, and installing a set of motrimoto hid's in the projectors. plus final drive and oil change, and swapping out the rear tire for new.

this is the plan for the top case and rotopax. mount the case lengthwise, just far enough forward to mount the rotopax (1.75l) over the rear rack, leaving enough space behind the passenger seat to strap down a jacket or sleeping bag or what not to act as a back rest of sorts on long rides.

Nice set up Rock! I wondered why Alt Rider didn't come out with the passenger seat rack at the same time they did the rear rack. I gave up on them 2 years ago and bought the TT racks. Looks Prudhoe or Inuvik bound ::001::

I was about to order an alternative one as well but then the altrider one was announced. Then delayed. Then delayed again. They should have included new spacers for the rear rack with it so it all lined up, but it was no big deal. Not sure where in off to this year yet, can only get two weeks off at a time so I'm thinking a scoot to California and prob a scoot around British Columbia. I did a 10,000 km scoot across the is last year and several times was wishing I had some spare gas onboard, so I figured IDE mount up the rotopax.

Had Bill Mayer Saddles fit driver seat to my butt at their shop this morning. Already hacked the bumpers to level the seat. They took it from there. Added back the inch lost in leveling. Now getting smidge more air on the helmet vent intake - just in time for summer.

The OEM outlet is a cigarette lighter style and is only fused at 5 A. You cannot run your battery tender through it nor can you use a portable air compressor if needed. I prefer the powerless because it gives you more options. Plus the power let outlet is a more secure fastener than a cigarette lighter style. Your plugs or connectors won't vibrate out of it
Hi, I´m new to this bike and also to electric issues.
I was so happy when I discovered the OEM outlet. No more worry about all gadgets that must have power.
But is it really that bad?
What gadgets can I use to power up with the OEM?
What can happen if you increase the fuse to 10 A instead?
Thanks,
Tomas

Nothing if you don't run any electronics beyond 3A for extended periods of time. Look at it this way, it's fused 3A from Yamaha for a reason.

You MIGHT be fine airing up a tire for awhile, but I for sure wouldn't run a compressor off it to set the bead on a set of fresh rubber.

Tomas - GPS and phone... that's about it.

Anything else, and you get melted wiring and a blown fuse. Replace the fuse with a higher rated one, melted wiring is the result.

The OEM power socket will not support a compressor or heated clothing. You really need to sort a separate plug or powerlet port for that.

Yes, it's really that bad.

Those big blocks made me fall all back in love with my SuperTen - if that was ever in doubt or even possible?

I am at about 1000miles and they look to be over 50% done. But the spins to grins ratio is incalculable. I will be resoling with the same!

Be sure to turn the TC off when you get out off the pavement to really see what the BB's will do!

ENJOY!!!

Thanks Eric, well explained.
Phone charging it will be used for then. The GPS will have the cables (attached in purchase) directly connected to battery pools.
Could not hurt installing another 12V outlet with bigger cables, 10 A fuse and a switch with a light in for other more powerful gadgets.

I use an "Outlet with alligator clips" for the air compressor. Clip onto the battery, fill / change the tire(s). Done.
Only on the road though, the real compressor works better at home. :)

I had my headlight harness replaced at YamahaSportsPlaza in Gresham, OR. It took only 45 minutes while I waited and they also cleaned the bike and checked my air pressure. Turns out my air gauge was reading about 10 lbs high compared to theirs at the shop. I thought the Battlewings did real well on dirt when I aired them down to 25 lbs the other week!

Anyway, I don't often have other folks work on my bike but these guys were great. After bringing the bike home, I did the 4000 mile oil change with a new filter and Rotella T6. We're good to go now for some exploring on Mt. Hood Thursday and Friday before the rains come back to Oregon this weekend.

In the process of moving accessories from my 2012 to the new 2014ES

Givi 1/4 turn removable racks with SW-Moto adaptor plate to run the Trax bags

Moved the Yamaha accessory skid plate over to the ES. Not sure why Yamaha has a new P/N for there accessory skid plate for the ES? The standard Tenere has the old P/N for its accessory skid plate???
The SupaBrake moved right over bought new Givi crash bars as leaving the ones on the 12 when I sell that bike. Now to move the Denali II lights. I've also ordered Twisted Throttle's upgraded fuze block. They call it Denali too not sure why.

I'm really liking this ES!

Lookin' good Brick.
What size are those boxes?
Can you do me a favour and run a measure across the rear of that set-up? I like to go the Trax way as well, just wondering how wide-arse it is...
