Brisket is one of those things that I have not mastered yet myself.
I've attempted it a few different occasions, each with different cooking methods/equipment, but have not seemed to get it to turn out "Correctly"
It's also an expensive endeavor at the current beef prices, so it's not something you want to just throw another hunk of meat at to experiment with..........

I haven't either. Costco had these on sale at 1/2 price so I bought 4. I have done 2 brisket so far and they were as good as a lot of restaurants (which isn't saying that they were good). My 3rd was a disaster but I now know I did a lot wrong. These two cooking since 5 pm last night are almost done and the temp tracks a looking very good throughout the cook. The best I have seen yet! I figured they would be done around 10 am this morning. One is almost do e and the other is catching up!

Ok, these two are tender and juicy. How tender??? I have a pretty sharp knife and I was having trouble cutting it as it was trying to fall apart! Game on! So happy after the failure of the other night. Having a BBQ Mentor is a handy thing... just like having a MC Mentor is handy. We could maybe have a few tech workshops during the RTE. HMMMM.

You ever do something that a week ago you never would have even thought about doing? Well, I did it and I'm still in shock but I'm happy with the result.
My oldest daughter married a Dairy Farmer and they now have 4 kids in 5 years. Struggling everyday and making it. My daughter has wanted a 6 seater UTV for several years after having the twins. She can't take the kids out on the farm very easily or down to the creek to play. I was just looking at some used ones and thinking I can talk to her hubby and see if he wanted an interest free loan for one. He said no. I kept thinking on what a blessing it would be for her as she is up to her eyeballs trying to keep those young kids busy during the whole day. So I started looking at some and found a very nice lightly used 2009 Polaris Ranger 700 and I told my wife that I was going look at it 4 hrs away. Do you want to go with me and we can take the back roads in western Wisconsin to LaCrosse? So I hooked up a trailer and we had an enjoyable drive for about two hours. Halfway there I decided to visit a big Powersports dealer to see what they had. No used ones but the sales guy used to be a tech and he warned me not to buy a 700 ranger. Said I'll most likely be replacing the engine in 1000 miles! That concerned me. But I said I would come look at it. I started on my way but 1 mile outside of town I pulled over and turned around as I had called my home dealer. One of the techs had been a Polaris tech for 6 years. I asked his opinion and he strongly warned me off of a 700. I guess it is a known bad engine. So I headed home. Stopped at the big dealer and looked at a new Kawasaki Mule and asked a few questions. Then continued home. I had to pass the home dealer on the way home so I stopped in. For the last 2 hrs I was thinking what a blessing it would be for their family. I looked at the Mules. Good machines but you had to convert back and forth from a 3 to a 6 seater and lose most of the bed. Started looking at the new Pioneer 1000-6. I had done some research on prices. Told them what I could buy one for 5 hrs away. Cost 3 to 500 in fuel. I'd give them the fuel cost above said price. They came close enough as they help me all the time and I buy a lot of parts that they price match at internet prices.
I bought it. Then ordered aftermarket front and rear windshield and a roof. My Mom passed a year and a half ago. I have an inheritance I had squirrled away for a nice shop. I can take the difference out of some investments in the future but I know that this would make an immediate impact on their lives. I worked 60 to 72 hrs a week for years and now I am in a position to do this. They need it now and by the time they might be able to afford it they wouldn't need it and I remember having 4 kids under 5 on our property and my wife going crazy. So... much to my surprise I did it... as I was putting it in my box trailer I couldn't help but think... I could buy some nice bike and accessories for me! What am I doing? But her reaction Christmas afternoon was worth every penny. I haven't shared this with anyone but for some reason I thought most of you would understand.

So here is a question. I haven't had a reason to look at the radiator.
People are going to crash these bikes far, far faster than the radiators are going to go bad. I'm sure you could find an inexpensive radiator from a part-out and put it in a box in your attic just in case.

Sorry, been avoiding the garage and taking care of business! I had two cars totalled inside of 6 days! Then dealing with the insurance companies. Some illegal alien turned left into my son and wiped that car. Then 6 days later a large 8 point buck jumped out of the woods 1 mile from our house and hit the front of my wife's car. Both are fine. To perfect cars with years of use in them and paid off... all gone! Then my truck started spewing oil when it was -17°F out. I didn't know it and drove 30 miles round trip and pulled into the drive. Saw a very large pool of oil sitting where my truck is always parked! Looked like it was coming from the oil filter. So I changed the filter... all fixed. Next morning start the truck and same thing. The day before I put in 1.5 gallons of oil to get it up to full. Total capacity is 2.5. Drove it into town. They put it on the lift. Looks like the oil filter is bad! What??? Got a different filter and all is good. AmsOil must have gotten a bad batch of filters. Looked like when the oil pressure was high at 90 the crimp seal or something was leaking. So back to one vehicle working. Two days ago bought another one and it has something wrong but the dealer said bring it in and we will make it right. Stopped by the body shop and they finally were able to get a good color match so the tank should be painted in under two weeks. Now I am looking at seals for the gas tank for when I switch the sending unit/pump to new tank and the gas cap too. Looking at the parts fische it looks like no gaskets up there? Must be the rubber on the cap seals it? Is this right? On the bottom. #21 looks like the seal for the sending unit. Rubber. Does anyone know if these can be re-used again? Or once and done? I'm leaning towards using it again if it doesn't look warped, swollen, or stretched out of shape. Besides that I didn't see much in the way of seals.IMG_4107(1).jpg

I went to work and a coworker was trying to convince me to buy his 2017 Super Tenere with Moose panniers and top box, Yoshimura pipe, Corbin seat/stock seat, new tires, oil just changed, 13,400 miles, touring windshield, altrider lower crash bars, puig duck bill (or whatever you call it), Yamaha winglets, Double Take mirrors. I kept saying no as I ride Honda's and I wanted an African Twin. He finally threw me a price that I thought was a very good deal at $9,000 and couldn't ignore it. So between a rain storm and an incoming snow storm while the roads were dry I went over and rode it. Hmmm, I think I should buy this... so it went on the trailer and it was snowing on it before we got it in my driveway. Been in the garage ever since. I have been reading all I can on the ST and as you know some reviews aren't favorable. But I kept reading then started reading on this forum. I have come to the conclusion that I came to when I researched the Honda NC700X and NC700XD when I wanted to find a bike for my daughters. That bike fit the bill and they both love their bikes. But the reviews which had much of the same types of conclusions... they basically trashed it. That bike is great in its niche. I am coming to the conclusion that maybe... just maybe I stumbled onto a real winner by buying this ST. It's in fine shape but as you know there's always a thing or 2 to buy for a bike. I had it for three weeks and then I put it on my lift and got the ECU out and sent that off. Should be here soon. Bought upper AltRider bars, T-Rex bash plate, Fenda Extender, switch for the ABS mod, AltRider protector for the front U-joint as I know that stock shield will catch my pants, AltRider side stand foot for soft ground, Puig headlight protector, Yamaha Shop Manual, looking right now to upgrade the front fork springs when I change fork oil. There's a couple of other things but I can't remember what they are. Oh, bought extended caps from Deftoner and Headlightrevolution.com Ultra 2.0 LED bulbs. I would have bought Tabasco's bash plate if I would have seen it first. Impressive thickness at 1/4".
Things that need doing and will be done before mid March as I have a trip to West Virginia planned last few days of March to April 2nd to test this bike out on back gravel roads and whatever else we find. I was going to swap out these tires for Motoz GPS as I do all my own tires with a NoMar tire changer.
1. Clutch fluid changed - still original
2. Brake fluid changed - changed once
3. Coolant changed - still original
4. Rear drive oil changed - maybe original
5. Fork oil changed - still original
6. Spokes inspected
7. All the above mentioned Farkles put on.
8. Couple more spare keys made just to have...
9. Speedbleeders.com speed bleeders all around and clutch too. Well worth the money.
10. I'll check the air filter but doubt it needs changing yet. K&N in it's future.
11. I'll ride it for a bit and see if any ergo changes will be needed for my 6'3" frame.
12. Quad-lock wireless waterproof phone charger added. I'm in love with those things. They are on my other traveling bikes!
13. TPMS - I can't believe that this didn't come stock with metal valve cores. T-valve cores will be replacing those when the TPMS goes on.
I look forward to working on these things and I will be sure to bring you guys along for the ride with pics and videos. I'm sure I will ask a lot of questions but I will do a search before I do! Oh, I just looked and he put Bridgestone Battle Wing BW 502 tires on this.

I have been looking for a newer top box for a tool box as two of my box's drawers always come open now. I saw an older mac tool top box and he wanted $300. I like that quality but I don't need that quality. Looked all over. Finally went to Home Depot and they had a Husky. Hmmm, $400 but it's bigger and has a power strip in it and with my veteran discount I get it for $360. I got it but they told me they had 4 in a box. Well, turns out they were on a truck and wouldn't get there for another 5 hrs. How about selling me the floor model with a discount. Ok, 10% off. So I got it for $320! Now the surprise was that price was for the top and the bottom chest. I don't know if I have room for that. The guy said... well drop it at my house then. So I figured something out. May have to get rid of the smaller craftsman bottom chest that my wife bought me as a "getting out of the Navy present" back in 88. Maybe I can arrange something. I think I will have to get rid of my disk/belt sander machine. I haven't used it in years. But the day after I get rid of it I'll need it! Now the hard part... consolidation of these tool boxes into a working system. Two of them are from my Uncles estate. Then after that I will start working on bikes again. Haven't touched them for 3 months!!20240124_144829.jpg20240124_144813.jpg20240124_132925.jpg

So you shipped the computer out to get flashed before even riding the Tenere for any real distance ?
Have been considering getting mine flashed but keep worrying might not like the results.
Had 2 Wheel Dyno do mine. Probably the best mod I've done. Smoother roll on, feels like it pulls harder. Stock exhaust, K&N filter.

So I just gave the belt/disk sander away to a friend on the premise that if I have a big project that I will be able to use it for a while. He didn't have a problem with that. Last 3 days for 5 to 6 hrs have been cleaning up tools and putting them in drawers. The weather has been warm for the last week and snow is off the road and it has been overcast for a month but I am getting the itch to get out on a bike. That itch just got a boost as I picked up my custom 8 gallon fuel tank today. Was a pretty metallic black, but now it's a pretty metallic Sand!

You can see the flake in it. Under the sun it should look good.
The rest of these pics are progress made on the tool boxes. Still have days ahead of me... but now I have a tank swap to look forward to.

They may get rearranged in the future but I have to get them put somewhere for now so I can get to work again. I also wouldn't mind hosting a RTE along with a technical day. Maybe have someone demonstrate a valve check/adjustment or something else the majority of people would like to have help with. I'm getting my BBQ skills in shape... just have to figure out a weekend.

Wow almost unbelievable amount of stuff you managed to fit in those drawers !
That way I will notice a gap if something is missing. I was thinking of trying to find a thin layer of foam and cutting out tool shapes so it will hold the tools in place and signal when something isn't where it should be.

I finally got my toolboxes reorganized! Had been avoiding the garage all winter because I didn't want to do it. Took almost 2 weeks. Feel so much better. Next day was a 40°F day. Took the S10 into town (5 miles) and washed the Pennsylvania dirt off of it from last October. Now to start giving the bike a good going over checking and lubing everything and then change out the gas tank.20240213_154012.jpg20240213_154520.jpg
