You want to be careful, the UK and most of Europe has "no-go zones"....... ::025:: ::025::
Having said that, I did live in South Florida ::010::
I was in Geneva a few years ago and was walking the city looking for a decent place to eat. The wife and I wandered through what I'm assuming was the red light district and certainly got an eyeful but never felt uneasy anywhere we walked.
On a side note, I wish I could remember the name of the steak restaurant we ate at there that was on the second floor and overlooked the lake. Dinner was >$200 USD and probably the worst meal I had in Europe. Their lobster bisque was quite possibly the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth :D

You guys do realise what I wrote was tongue in cheek, right?
Anyway, Zurich also has a hooker street and even a car parking bay just for prostitutes so they can take care of business with relative security and not have cars parked in neighbourhoods doing their trade..... A bit like a drive-thru, but with a happy ending not a happy meal! 8)

In a way I'm jealous of the freedom your constitution gives you, but I do wonder at the need for some of the guns I see for sale over there, like the AR15 assault rifle types. We have to jump through hoops to get a shotgun certificate, and even do somersaults if you want one that will take more than three cartridges (two in the mag and one in the breach is the normal permit limit).
It took me a few months to get my shotgun permit, which included a home visit by the cops to inspect my security cabinet, an interview at home, a reference from a reliable source, and they also check with your doctor to make sure you are not suffering from a mental illness or have a drink problem. I also have to hide the cabinet keys, not even my wife is allowed to know where they are kept.
If you need any route advice or ideas where to visit in England or the rest of the UK drop me a line.

I wouldn't mind if gun owners were required to take safety courses etc. Then again, I think people should have to take parenting classes before reproducing. ::017::

Texas slant, of course.

But SEEING a gun doesn't cause me much concern at all.
Especially if it is holstered.

Not likely to have a problem with someone that has a gun holstered. Think about it.
I can sit and enjoy my meal without an ounce of angst.

It's the gun that is in someone's HAND that me nervous.
The good guys leave it holstered. Law enforcement AND private citizens.

Only the bad guys brandish the things. And if I am unfortunate enough to be somewhere someone comes in brandishing?......I'm praying there are some holstered ones nearby.

56 years old. Been living right here where the rest of the world stereotypes as the "wild West".
But in reality, only witnessed a gun being brandished twice.
Both morons. Both looked and acted like gangster wannabes.
Both LUCKY there wasn't a holstered weapon nearby. They would both likely have been dealt with harshly. And they would have had it coming too, in my book.

Too late, in these parts, to have a gun-free society. Just not in our culture. But I'm totally ok with an opposing culture. Makes sense to me, I think.

And for the sake of the thread.............I don't carry on my bike. Never actually considered it. But I'm cool if you do.

I prefer to keep my gun carry status to myself. There are so many places in my life where it is absolutely prohibited, that I'm accustom to not having my Kahr with me. Do I carry on the bike...maybe. It's common for even my wife to not know if that's a gun in my pocket or...

it is a right of all americans to exercise their freedom.. so back to what do you carry, i do carry a glock , a gun lock(not for gun, but to secure helmet to bike.) flat repair kit, fuses, elecrical tape, knife( more important than firearm ) micro fibre towels, rain and cold weather gloves, altoids or other candies to keep mouth happy, water, tissue or some other paper to clean...... and most of this is in my tank bag ,any over flow goes in top box. just a little note about texas castle doctrine , if i have a gun in my vehicle and concealed its legal. if i carry on bike and its concealed its legal. if it is in tank bag and i take tank bag off bike it is illegal without concealed carry permit. so it may go in top box, and no vehicles are proper places to keep firearms if your not there as you can not secure them.. and every thief knows right where to look... and thats how bad people get their guns....enough of that... the stuff i carry on a daily basis is for piece of mind, comfort. cell phone call away to deal with most problems...

As for what I carry, being from Montana I usually just roll with Ewe on my lap. As for tools of course I carry a Little Bo Peep Stick, that is of utmost importance in controlling ewe as well as a tire plug kit, compressor and bungee web.

I rarely carry a firearm anymore, hell I am actually selling most of mine, lost all interest.

One of my sons bought most of mine. I do keep proficient for work travel to places where weapons may be available, and he gets pissed every time we shoot together, because I can still do better with "his" guns.
LOL
Maryland residents may get some type of ability to concealed carry with the new Republican governor, but it is not worth currently applying.

On the original topic, I do keep a small compressor, sticky string plugs, a multi-tool, helmet visor in a sleeve, and have towing from both AMA and insurance. For commuting, those and a credit card are plenty. I seem to need to plug a tire in DC about once a season, from parking the rear wheel to the curb.

On any trips, there's a bottle of water and a first aid kit, tie-down straps, and a few more tools.

I always have a tire repair kit, and if on a trip, a small compressor. Also the cell phone and CC. My skills are better at calling someone else if it is much worse.

Also I carry a S&W M&P Shield 9mm on me at all times. I have been a LEO for 31+ years, so not only do I want to, but it goes with the territory. When I retire, I will continue to carry.

Beside my .357 mag, I also carry a compressor, tire kit, rain gear, para chord, heated gear, cell phone, ear plugs, camera, tripod
and extra gloves.

I should say I carry about 30lbs too much...
It's all that I may need this and I may need that stuff that adds up.
I try to think of it as backpacking to reduce the load!
Then I hit thrift stores and Pawn shops in different towns from time to time when I travel and come home with something that adds to the weight.. ::013::

I carry a small Walmart air compressor & tire repair kit. I've repaired two flats while riding. Funny thing is, neither bike was mine. First was a buddy on a Valkyrie group ride back in my cruiser days. The second was a brand-new Goldwing with a nail in the tire. The guy was going to call a wrecker but I told him I could plug it. After plugging it I followed him another 100 miles into Seattle to make sure it held. I found it interesting that he was headed to motorcycle instructors training & had never considered an air compressor & tire repair kit. I bet he bought one shortly thereafter!

I also carry the following;

hand crank flashlight
zip ties of various sizes
a little duct tape
cigarette lighter
handgun on my person - type depends on destination & mood - 5.7 x 28mm FNH when I'm pissy
wallet with real cash along with cc's

If my wife is riding pillion all I really need is wallet! :D
