I am in the process of trying to get my paws on this old beauty. This is a Smith and Wesson model 3 first model. Manufactured around 1887. Shoots a black powder .44 cartridge. These break barrel revolvers were very popular in the old west and the Russian government bought about 20,000 of them. This one has added pearl grips, about 60% finish. Works and functions well. Notice the odd

AZ Mike, my neighbor had a ranch in SE Montana a few years ago and the Miles City to Deadwood trail ran through it. He was out moving cattle from horseback one day and saw something laying in the dirt. It was a .44 Russian Scofield, much like the one in your photo.

Update on my post from Nov 4.: Today I finally had my intake appointment. After eight weeks! I handed them all the paperwork, photocopies, passport photos etc. Now they are gonna do a complete background check including things like my social accounts, speeding tickets etc. You name, they check it. This is gonna take another 6-8 weeks… if all is positive I get a home visit from 2 cops that wanna have a chat and see if my gunsafe is approved and securely fixed. If they approve I get my permit after a few days. Fingers crossed

Nice looking gun, but tell me what is it and what does it shoot?
THAT is a mini-14. Fan-freakin-tastic gun. Basically, a politically correct AR-15. Same round (.223/5.56), same capacity, but not dressed up as a black Ninja. :D Even has the collapsible stock.

He showed another version of one the other day with a regular stock and scope. So, he has two. . . . very jealous now. :D

What's the barrel twist, and what grain ammo? Looks to be a 3"-ish group? (1 moa) Might even be tighter than my AR.

The Ruger Mini 14 always reminded me of a cross between the M14 and a M1 carbine. Interesting fact on the Mini 14, at one time Bill Ruger pitched the Mini 14 as a replacement for the M16. It was also available in 7.62x39 known as the Mini 30.

The one Hannibal on the A TEAM had was a select fire fully auto mini 14 called the AC 556. Very sought after and they command a large price.

My barrel twist rate is 1 in 10" A good AR is superior for accuracy, and everybody makes parts for an AR.

Mine is an older AR, so it's a 1:9. I think the popular twist(s) right now is 1:11 or 1:7. Mine does not like 55gr, but does like 75gr. 100yds is about as far as I've shot it. Past that I have the .308.

You're right about ARs and parts for them being everywhere. Around here you can buy/build one for less than what a Mini-14 costs.

Ruger also said there is no need for a magazine capacity over 5 rounds. I believe after he retired/died Ruger started offering higher cap magazines.

I don't think any of y'all have showed a Marlin 30-30. If you have one, hang on to it. When Remington/Ruger bought Marlin they stopped production. So, the Model 336 is stupid expensive now. Wish I still had mine.
