Who's got a link to the Karen forum so that this pic can be posted and force the howls of "You're creating a future killer!!!!"
I taught his daddy and uncle gun safety early on. If there's a gun in the house, it's just plain irresponsible not to. And locking a gun up in a safe is not gun safety. (that's just to prevent theft) In this instance the gun is empty, and magazine removed. I was impressed that he has both eyes open while looking through the optic. The straight trigger finger was actually taught with his Nerf guns.

I took everything you just said as a given. No justification or explanation was required

I could show that picture to 100 Aussies and probably 99 of them would make some inane comment about Americans and guns while having no idea that their opinion was founded in complete stupidity.

Every gun owner here is required to have a safe and the police do random checks to owners residences to check the safe; what they have in the safe; that everything is registered; that there’s no illegal modifications (which includes the changing of a spring!); and, of any problems are found, generally refuse to issue receipts so that, if the owner gets cleared by a court (usually years later), not everything gets returned and is often damaged.

The typical gun safes are easy targets for thieves as they’re usually ripped clean from the wall’s and stolen rather than being broken into. That’s why I have 4 safes with 3 of them being over a tonne each. The 4th is about a quarter tonne but is glued to the top of one of the heavy ones. They’d need a crane and piano wire to get it off

Wow. For that to happen over here would require a warrant. And I can't see a judge in Texas signing off on that warrant. Of course, some states have those pesky "red flag" laws.

As of June 2023, more than 20 states and Washington, D.C. have red flag laws. The only real surprise was Florida being on the list.

Wow! It is even worse in your country. And i thought the Netherlands was strict.
The random checks, yes. But police here know absolutely nothing about guns, so serial number checking is. Like that is going to change  . For the rest i can fiddle around, modify and change what i want as long as parts used are legal.
If it was as strict as you describe I wouldn’t have applied for it, respect Matt.

Even he's learned "straight finger". Too bad Hollywood can't.

Every time i watch a movie or show with guns it really gets to me how careless the actors are with the weapons. Even if they are unloaded. I know some have blanks in them and if they did go off at that close of a range with them pointed at other actors like they do it would kill them. Then the other day I was watching an old Columbo show with Eddie Albert in it. He was showing Columbo one of his fire arms that he was sending to an exhibit. there were actors on each side of him. He kept the barrel away from everybody had it in a safe position when he activated the bolt. You could tell it was a learned and practiced move not just chance. But of course Eddie Albert was another WW2 war hero that ran landing craft at beach invasions hauling troops and ammo to shore. He was awarded metals for his actions saving marines. During one interview with him that i saw he was talking about bullets and tracers starting fires in his landing craft and he was putting fires out and driving the boat and did this countless times ship to shore. I am sure he never forgot what a fire arm can do to some one. One that used to be in Hollywood that understood actions and consequence's. Actions teach better than words.

Folks, we are wandering into the political so not going to delete anything at this point but it’s time to remind of the thread title.

I've finally managed, after 2-and-a-half years, to partially set up my reloading bench. I'm putting through the hypersonic cleaner all the brass that needs to be cleaned and never realised the amount of rubbish that came off during cleaning.
A few thousand 38sp and a few hundred 9mm through. Another few thousand of those to go next.
Lots of reloading to catch up on....

Yes. Show after show I see guys muzzle F'n the guy in front of them. The movie "Act of Valor" is a great movie and a perfect example of movement with guns. Of course, the main characters are/were active duty S.E.A.L.s. Horrible acting but fantastic movement. And if you've never heard of SWCC boats, watch the movie and enjoy.

Yeah, I trampled the s**t out of the line, but stopped short of crossing it. (I think)
I think the line should be trampled at times. It usually comes down to an interpretation of what is political.

Talking about how one country handles certain laws and generally regards it's citizens as peasants who should just do as they're told isn't really political. Talking about how the USA is so fortunate to have the Bill of Rights isn't political. Slagging off someone for voting one way over another IS political.

Is say that talking about how police regard shooters isn't political because those kind of decisions aren't made in a parliament and are usually an arbitrary thing from the department itself.

Maybe a poll could be created over what is deemed to be political so that the forum stays more in tune with the feelings of the participants rather than a personal opinion?

I think the lines that mods have drawn are ok because this is a touchy subject to some. This thread is supposed to be mainly to show and talk about our guns, like we do our bikes. Besides, "conversations" can get political as heck about the finer points of law. "I" think as long as facts, and not opinions, are expressed we should be ok.

I truly wish we could but no and nope.

This thread started in June of 2020 when US politics was getting super heated. We mods work hard to keep the family vibe where folks don’t talk religion, politics, etc. As I wrote in Post #1 we had at least one member quit because this is a gun thread in a motorcycle forum, others were VERY upset, and we’d learned from watching ADV how gun threads typically go off the rails too fast. I check into a shooters forum periodically when looking for specific info about something and it is the most negative bitter forum I know of.

We’re not doing a poll because a basic agreement to be on this privately owned forum is that the mods have final say.

Sierra1 - Thanks for capturing the sentiment and flavor so well.

Fair enough.
I don't get argumentative on forums as it achieves nothing to say, "I won an argument on a forum!"

I will add that this forum has been the friendliest one I've ever been on - so I'm not about to whine too loudly for change.

Anyway, back to the guns and bikes... I also appreciate the nice way it was said to "like it or sod off!"
