As much as I like and trust my Sig, I can't take it a lot of places so between lonely parking lots in the camper van, boat we spend nights on, and an increase in night time home invasions, been thinking about picking up a Winchester Mariner 12 ga 18" barrel for $370. (https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/winchester-sxp-marine-defender-pump-action-shotgun) Can swap barrels to hunt if wanted (I don't) and it reminds me of my Dad's Model 12 Winchester so there's an emotional aspect too. Would prefer the Rem 870 Mariner but it costs a lot more.
See lots of good YT videos and positive Bass Pro/Cabella reviews but then a few individuals mention feed issues when new. Those ought to show up quick if it's one of those guns. Never really was comfortable with how loose Mossbergs feel even though I know it's intentional, see more jamming reports, and it can cost even more than the Remington now.
So anybody here have one?
We’re not allowed to have a pump action unless a primary producer or need it for your job. Licence has to be renewed yearly.
I just paid about $1,000 for a marine grade straight pull.

Curious about what feedback you get. I have a Mossy 590 w/Magpul furniture, it has been run through over 40 hours/2500 rounds (avg of 500 rounds mixed bird/slug/buck per 8 hour class) of tactical classes and training without a hiccup/jam/etc. YMMV

If you are not too recoil-sensitive, Magpul makes a great Stock and Handguard for these...................If I didn't already have what I have, I'd most likely be buying theirs.
Or the Streamlight combo Handguard, but I already have a light on mine attached to a custom rail setup.

Mine has the Strike-Industries Handguard with Handstop, and the Knoxx adjustable Buttstock on it. (pics to come soon)
I'm not recoil-sensitive, but I love having the Knoxx on there...........I can shoot that thing all day!

Speaking of recoil, I took the Stevens 107B to the Range on Monday (I had the day off, paid Holiday)
OMG! I'm bruised and a bit tender still

I'm still trying to decide on a forend for the Remington. I like a "post" grip similar to what's on my AR. But I also like the one-piece forend light from Streamlight. I'm leaning towards the flashlight.

I think the "Pistol-Grip" style forend would seem awkward to me.............unless I had a DP12! (maybe someday)
Honestly, I've never used a pistol-grip style pump before.

Since my Boys had the day off from School this past Monday, and I had the day off from Work, I took Logan to the indoor Range for his first taste of a real firearm.
Also, kids shoot free on Mondays there, so it was a Win-Win!

After I spent a bit of time to get the Savage-22 sighted-in, I let him take over.
He was nervous at first of course, but I coached him through the safety and procedures and he did great!

IMG_E7007.JPG

After he got comfortable with the bolt-action Rifle, I let him have some fun with the Beretta U-22 handgun.
He had a blast! Said that was the most fun part of the whole experience.............

Then I broke out this Bad Boy!

After the complete rebuild, I wanted to make sure it functioned properly.

There were various other people there shooting. Some with Handguns, and some with Rifles and AR-style firearms.

I had to laugh my ass off! I blasted off one round out of this thing, and the whole place stopped what they were doing...............and everyone peered around the lane-dividers to see what the hell just happened :D Every single person!
Logan commented that he'd never seen anything like that, and thought that was funny.
After watching me shoot it, he didn't want anything to do with it either..............which was smart on his part. It would have hurt him pretty good.

I brought one box of five 3/4-ounce Slugs with me.
I shot 3 of them and was pretty much done.......................and then my dumbass shot the other 2 shells!
I've been paying for it all week with my bruised shoulder!

Logan says he can't wait to go back and shoot again next time..............I think I'll leave the Stevens at Home......

Fix bayonets!! Repel boarders!! I have an official bayonet for my M1a. But the mounting lug needs some filing for proper fitment. More than one company made them, so there are some production variances.

This is one of safes. We don't know how old it is. But it was built before Fabrique Nationale changed its name to F.N.H. in '73. Although it is normal sized, the weight is stupid heavy, somewhere north of 800lbs. The paint is more of a coating, and the gold almost looks like gold leaf. He keeps it waxed. It cost us $200, and came with three Browning Hi-Powers.

LOL - Not really worried that about repelling people trying to board the boat.

Been pretty tied up on the road with doing classes and such so the shotgun thing will need to wait.
My daughter keeps telling me that I'm a failure at retirement. She's right but I pick what I want to do now.

You got THAT safe AND 3 Hi-powers for $200???
Did you wear a mask so that it was more in keeping with robbing them?
