Agree! Dollar for dollar, much more bang for the buck.

I think having this MSRP info is going to cement the S10 for a lot of people. You just can't beat it.

I'm confident though that Triumph is building a heck of a bike, and I'm sure it'll be awesome in its own way. Can you say "triple"? ::26::

While I really like my Super, I am really digging the 'Steve McQueen Edition Bonneville'. That looks to be a really sweet bike to just jump on and ride around town.

Well I finally got a chance to test ride a Tenere today. Rode about 40 miles through some nice twisties, and then a very muddy dirt road and finall some freeway. I was surprised how well it took the curves, although I didn't push it too hard. The dirt was fun, it felt. Dry much like my DR only with bigger balls. Felt kind of anemic on the freeway though, about 20 more HP would be nice.
What are you guys with POwer commander and exhaust seeing at the rear wheel?

100 rearwheel HP and 108 Nm

This graph was done when I had the PC V and Akra slipon only.

I had No AT, No Arrows headers, No Diapason flash installed at that time yet. Now I have.... ::26:: ::26:: ::26:: Will have a new Dyno chart made when I have time. >:D

Sat on the Explorer at IMS in NYC. It felt heavier with a higher COG even though the tank was empty. I'm not sorry I didn't wait for it.

what is this Diapason flash everyone is talking about?

I've heard about the high COG, and the heavy feeling of the Explorer, definitly waiting for a test ride myself.
after riding the S10, I'm pretty sure that's the route I will go.

I sat on one at the IMS in Charlotte today. Something about it just "isn't". ??? Can't put my finger on it, riding one would surely help. This bike did not have a centerstand, the Triumph rep said that it got tore off as it was being unloaded for a show. I loved the 800 the moment I sat on one last year. 8)

" Then came the Yamaha Super Ténéré, its 1,199cc parallel twin making power and torque comparable to the latest DOHC iteration of BMW’s 1,170cc boxer, and both offering low-maintenance shaft final drive. But the Super Ténéré is heavy and its ABS can’t be turned off, limiting its versatility."

Do these reviewers just read what other magazines publish and take it as gospel? ::010:: I've read lots of mag reviews of the Tenere and they are all contradictive of each other. I realize that the Yamaha is heavy by the numbers and there's no ABS off switch but I don't hear about it being a problem for the majority of owners. ::002::

I guess it just just boils down to believing what you want and running with it. After all, they're all just "opinions" from some guy/gal.

I read that statement too, They just don't have a clue or they have never riden the bike.

That would probably be a pre-press briefing or something by Triumph.

As far as heavy goes, does the guy realize he is riding a bike that is pretty much the same weight?

As far as the Explorer goes, I can't wait to see groups of explorer riders sitting on a road all fiddling with their buttons trying to find the ABS off Menu Item.

Should make a good photo op.

Maybe someone could do a video of sn S10 rider, doing the centre stand disable thing VS an Explorer rider trying to find the menu button.

But the motor seems like a corker though, Like the CrossDresser. I think they would both be a great street bikes with some light off road duty thrown in.

I checked out the Triumph Explorer at the bike show in Edmonton in January. Very nice bike. For me it came down to value for money and proximity of a dealer. I have a Yamaha dealer 8km from my house and any decent sized town in North America will have a Yamaha dealer, never mind the rest of the world. I would have to go 3 hours to the nearest Triumph dealers in Calgary or Edmonton.

The Triumph was $17,500 Cdn and I could have ordered one for May/June delivery with a $1,000 Cdn non-refundable deposit.

So the following week I went to see my local Yamaha dealer. MSRP on the Tenere was $16,500 and the bike is a higher spec than the base Explorer, plus the Tenere was $1,000 off MSRP. At the time the dealer didn't have any Tenere's and none available from Yamaha. But there were 8 in Alberta sat at other dealers.

I traded another bike and got $700 more than the Triumph dealer offered me. The money saved more than paid for my panniers, top box, crash bars and skid plate.

And they got a Tenere in for me within a week. Done deal. ::008:: ::008:: ::008::

This is going to be a very interesting head-to-head comparison between the Explorer and the S10. If the Explorer doesn't exhibit the top-heavy characteristics of the Tiger 1050 then it might just be a winner if you leave out things like dealer network and reliability.

Once I decided to replace the KTM I was almost sure the Explorer would be my next bike. Then I got out the calculator and the shine kinda wore off. To outfit the Explore with all the stuff I wanted I would have had to shell out close to 20K. I don't know about other Triumph dealers but mine insists on freight ($495) and prep ($150). Plus KY tax at .06% puts the bike locally at $17,287 and that's before you add any accessories. I like the looks of it and I bet that motor will be a lot of fun.
