Another item like the fender extender that is absolutely useless, and for lack of a better word, dang ugly. You guys get lights broken out a lot? I have yet to have a broken light in 42 yrs riding, but it could happen I spoze, but I'll take my chances. It does look better than the plastic protector though definately.
I think it looks sharp. If I did more dirt riding, I'd probably get one.

I had a rock break the headlight assembly on the ST1100 I used to own. The replacement cost was over $350.00. I got lucky and found a used one for $150.00. So yeah I'll bet a guard against having to shell out big bucks to buy a new headlight especially since I do plan to ride dirt & gravel roads.

YMMV

I rarely leave the tarmac with my XT1200Z. So both the plastic and the stainless steel headlight protector hardly ever need to prove their purpose.

The only pupose they will serve for me is the looks. That for me is enough. ::025:: ::025:: ::025::

I want one just to give Ron more to gripe about! O:)
I'm hopeful that the US end of things will have 'em soon. Otherwise Blue Eyes is going to have to get into the shipping biz.
Just imagine, in a few years we'll be able to give Ron a shout, "hey, I've forgotten what my bike looked like when I bought it, help a guy out..." ::008::

There are those that farkle and those that don't. No right or wrong way - just however you chose to enjoy your ride.

I am probably more function that true farkle, but even perceived function requirements vary from rider to rider.

Hey Blue Eyes, since you won't be needing that little clear headlight cover now, you can send it over the pond to me in North Carolina. Heck, i will not even charge you for taking that off your hands. But to just be a nice guy, I will even pay shipping. But it would be nice if you'd through in a chunk of great mild dutch cheese too. ::)

Install luggage and you barely see the stock exhaust / shield.

The protectors is now showing on the US website along with a new Carbon headshield.
$130.80

Quite a bit of markup there - the Euro site shows it at 75 euro, $130 = 92 euro.

One thing about Tourtech is I feel I should getting paid to advertise for them. EVERYTHING they sell has their brand name boldly emblazoned on it and looks like a rolling billboard. Guess I'm the one being grumpy now. :D

Yeah, I kinda like the grill look, even with the "Tourtech" on it. I'd purchased that piece anyway at that price, but I already just bought the OEM protector. I've got paint at home that'd over it up if needed.

Shhh!!! You'll ruin their marketing plan. :D
I wonder how much of that is carry-over from the "look at me" ethos of some lifestyle brands? How many people never leave tarmac, but have to have all the gear piled on their GSA so they can look hardcore. Kinda like a row of Paul Smart Ducatis parked in front of a Starbucks... Or having the latest iPhone when you barely know how to use it... I'm sure a fair amount of psychology plays into it. Group dynamics. Inclusion/exclusion rules.

Wonder if it would be cheaper to order from Europe and pay shipping instead of the $130.80 plus shipping. I like the OEM clear guard but it will be that much from Yamabits I think. Is there a Canadien source for the OEM one that anyone knows of that might be cheaper than Europe?

Touratech have that covered - they won't ship anywhere that they have representation. You'd have to get someone in Europe to buy for you and ship...
