PLEASE DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
now that's out of the way. Here is what I tried today.
I was coming back home from Cleveland nobody on toll rd. In front of me, so I opened it up.
Made 3 attempts first 110 mph, second 112 mph, third 115 mph, throttle wide open all the way, RPM around 6500. It won't go anymore and RPMs didn't climb much either. Bike though was planted and stable.
Anyone tried experimenting before.

Too many variables. Headwind, tailwind, downslope, upslope, weight, etc. That said, 120 should be easy under normal conditions.

Is your bike stock? Mine far from stock and I can hit 105 no problem on the high way with lots of throttle left. I've also been 100+ on dirt many times but have to admit that I've never done a WOT run to oblivion. I think the flash removes the sixth gear limit so you could rev higher in 6th. I'll have to go try it.

In Oregon no wind good air and in s mode it goes a lot faster, but with the windscreen on it won,t pull over 140 you ,would have to pull the screen off and tuck down and my be red line it. but the problem pushing to much air. I don,t worry about to many bikes until 125.

I saw 137mph indicated and still climbing slow. That had to be a tail wind, otherwise it is usually about 125. This is with a parabellum tall and all three factory boxes.

The best I've managed so far was 125 (on a private estate road, of course) and slowly climbing but I had a corner looming up rapidly. The taller windscreen and top box were certainly taking thier toll and would certainly account for a good few MPH. Rock solid though ::008:: It'll get a run out on a bit of Autobahn next year fully loaded and we'll see what she can do. Out of interest I had my former Moto Guzzi Stelvio flat out on a section of Autobahn a few years ago and it sat on the rev limiter at 141mph fully loaded.

Philistine Mate ... I just hope that was along that very special bit of road up in the NT otherwise I do have to inform you that you were breaking the law :D :p ;)

I recently came home from WA to Melbourne across the Nullarbor and we religiously stuck to all the legal posted speed limits 110 and 100 kph ... yeah like :))

My bike is stock, it was windy and there was some head wind. No luggage on bike just me and stock windshield set at highest setting. I was in S mode and traction setting at 1.

it was a logging / forestry road on a sunday so it was only me and I thought it was time to see what the big pig would do.
Have done the Nullarbor about 20 times, if your going to speed there you have to watch out for those corners mate :D

Now we can all rest a bit easier...knowing how fast our bikes will do. I think that the best time to go "fast" is on a race track. That way you are at less risk and also the people who share the road with you.

Remember that the speedo is about 8% high.

If you search there are a couple of early threads about top speed and I think the most anybody saw on GPS was 129 mph. Not bad for pushing a brick-shaped hole in the wind.

With Madstad bracket/tall Parabellum shield, Yamaha panniers I saw a GPS indicated 106 mph once (ran outta road at that point). Since I really enjoy having a Driver's Liscense and don't care to go to jail, that will probably do it for me ::021::

With Parabellum and panniers on Highway 50 across Nevada (7000 ft elevation) 124 by gps. Or so I heard.

On I-15 same setup into a 40+ mph headwind I was cruising along at about 82 mph and was passing bikes like crazy. Came up on a wing, moved over to pass and opened the throt... er... There was no more room to open the throttle! So max speed I witnessed, there, was maybe 85 mph :D
