OX-34, tell us about that long range fuel tank on the rear of your bike. Imported? How big, how much how's it work?
Spill it, we want to know.

Here's a couple of threads on my tanks.
The first one shows the plumbing when I first mounted the JAZ tank and the second is for the aluminium tank.

I had the tank fabbed by a local (Newcastle, NSW, Australia).
Since I posted the thread about the tank I've run it lots of times. I can get in about 17.5 litres, not 20L. Whether on the side or centre stand there remains a small unfillable section in the rear right corner, simply because I cant fill higher than the lowest edge of the filler neck (front left). Also the volume of the 3 x 3mm baffle plates within the tank displaces a bit more fuel.
In practice I:
- Fill both tanks;
- wait until fuel gauge flashes to indicate the main tank has hit 'reserve'. (This is an additional guide to current fuel economy, plus I know that all of the aux fuel can safely drain into the main tank without overflowing if I have stopped for a break or something).
- reach back behind my right hip and flip the valve open
- watch the fuel gauge rise
- ride on for maybe another 300km
I designed the tank but paid $300 for the construction, plus another $200 or so for all of the fittings.
