Odd for me

http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/lotus-enters-motorcycle-business-with-the-stunning-c-01--hyper-bike-171441146.html

I love the idea of Lotus building a bike, more of a prototype imho, but the concept is cool. However, for me, this thing is just not "IT"

If I were in the market for a crazy exotic low production bike this bike seems to miss the mark everywhere.
I LOVE retro styling. I like the Camaro, and the look of the new BMW R bike that looks like the old R90S {forgot the model}. The idea of a modern bike with its added safety and performance but a classic style is cool with me. Good brakes, smooth powerful engine, FI, ABS, TC.....but in a vintage style is neat. But this thing misses on both fronts.

They saw it vintage/classic/retro but I do not see that so much. Twin rear shocks for the sake of retro? The full fairing style is not that classic to me, all carbon Fiber not retro, cast wheels, covered forks, fat swing arm, funky side exhaust, all just miss the "classic/retro/vintage" style.

Then I doubt the performance is up to par so that is questionable. Granted, I have not ridden it, or even seen a test ride report, but the look of the forks seem quite raked out with a lot of rake/trail...not usually a formula for great handling. Riding position looks less than comfy, and the dual rear shocks seems TOO old tech for no reason.

I am possibly wrong, as is often the case, but I just see too much nonsense and not enough true retro...miss and a miss

This is so expensive and in such low volume that the million and billion airs will buy one to put in there office or home.. For most owners, this is "I have something you don't".... Not to be taken to the track and test out the 200 rear wheel HP..... If you break a part, good luck buying more parts... Or having anyone work on it....

This is a somewhat similar situation for the people that own the Ducati Desmosedici RR at a price half the cost of the proposed estimate of the Lotus.. "Most" owners have them in there office or home, not out on the track. But of course they are not the same bike, heritage, 'use', or style, Etc, Etc....

The Lotus is pretty darn slick, for the money I have seen estimated I wish it had more trick parts on it like vented carbon/carbon brakes. Or some milled TI/magnesium six piston calipers.. Carbon wheels, Etc.. That Desmosedici is bad ass bike too... Probably more rideable than the lotus as well.

Lotus will probably make more money off wall posters of this bike than the bike it self..... :D
