I am rapidly approaching the one year mark with my Super Ten, and have acquired more than 11,000 trouble free miles so far. The cost of the YES is high, and my FJR has been bulletproof, so I have little reason to worry, yet I do.

The dealer has offered a 30% discount off the advertised rate. What is the thought out there about extended warranties?

Thanks-

Rob

If you look around you get it for about $400 for 4 years. Not a plug, but I used Bloodline's uncle to get it for $413. He was very easy to deal with and stepped me through the process and emailed me the appropriate forms. Since I bought my S10 slightly used, my process was a little different.

I generally speaking don't buy them. That said, had I bought one for my 07 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, it would have paid for itself many times over. 413 for four years? I like that deal.

Question on Y.E.S.
I am buying a trade in next week with the warranty good until June 2013. Since I am buying it used can I still buy the added 4years "after" the sale? The dealer won't budge from $560 for 4 years?

Thanks - the 150 saved could buy me a tall windscreen or something....

Dan

I generally don't but like the others, I did.

And I simply printed out a copy of the thread with the $380-ish being offered by various dealers to my local dealer. Battley is known for not being a discount dealer, but had no hesitation in matching the low prices.

The bottom line was that I gave my local dealer my business to keep them around, AND got a great price.

I liked the idea of extending the warranty on my S10 too, just for the peace of mind. Looked for information about it on the Yamaha Europe/UK site and guess what....? it doesn't appear to be available to anyone on this side of the pond. Perhaps our consumer regulations aren't as customer orientated as in the U.S. ? ::)

I normally only keep a bike 2 or 3 yrs, I bought the extended warranty for the added resale benefit.

I bought a used Tenere a couple of weeks ago. Added the 4 year YES this week for less than $400.00. The amount of tech on our bikes could be high $'s if something goes out down the road. $400.00 is cheep from what I have seen.

I'm not a fan of these insurance deals and seldom consider them but for the price of one ABS unit or computer I did buy one w/my S10.....too many high dollar little electrical gizzmoes on this thing

I bought the 4yr YES because of the lack of lots of wrecked bikes. This bike is so new you would have to buy from Yamaha and that, as another poster mentioned, would be expensive$$$$$$$
Also it does add to the resale I think, more than any other farkel.
