This is there old style tire, the newer one has more of a solid center rib.
The tires I got are the current design. The fronts have not changed, only the rears, but the 150 started out with the solid center rib from the first run. The 140 has had three generations, no center rib, a thin center rib and the current solid, wider center rib that looks pretty good for a 50/50 tire. Honestly, I'll probably be more like 70/30, but if it lasts, I really like the more open tread for the gravel and dual track. I'll put up with a bit more noise on the pavement for that. I wear earplugs always. :D

Doh! I see what you mean, you looked at the pic on the web link. The pic is just a stock photo of a Heidenau, not the actual 150/70B-17 tire. As said above, I did receive the current design with the more solid center rib.

Eric, thanks for the research and details. I have been waiting for the 150's to arrive as I wanted them installed on the Tenere when they did the setup. Just ordered mine from emototires.

See about 8 posts back...........

"Ended up at http://www.emototires.com/ and they not only had them in stock, but were cheaper too! Bonus, shipping was half of the other shop in Tucson that had just a rear. Jose, ( the internet sales dude), was great to deal with and he shipped the tires the same day I ordered, emailed me a tracking # and the tires showed up the next day! Pretty good service."

Yep, you and me both. I got a bitchin set of tires for a bike that's not here yet! :'( :D As Colo posted, the links are in the thread. I ended up paying $305.50 for the pair, shipped to my door. Still on the spendy side for tires, but better than average price on Heidenaus. No idea how many more they have, but I do know another shipment of Fronts is coming sooner than the 150 rears.

Part of the reason these tires last so well is likely due to them being bias ply instead of radials. For those on the fence, you may want to factor that into your decision. Most of the more street oriented tires for the ST will be radials. Note a 'B' or 'R' in the tire size to indicate Bias or Radial.

Since some have them already... tube type or tubeless?

The Heidenau tires are tubeless. More importantly, the ST rims are tubeless. You could run any tire with a tube if you wanted, I suspect. I just like the ability to plug a tire and re-inflate, then moto on.

I'm a dealer for TKC 80's and Kenda BB's...... What would you choose.... I would like to try the BB's but I just know Ill smoke the rear out pretty fast. I can go with the TKC but just want something different...... Looking to get hooked up with the K60 scout guys and go that rought.. I know it really has to do with where you might go ride. I'm in Texas so there is allot of slab before you get over to NM, AZ, UT, CO.... but when im there I want some knobs... I dont think any tire can do that trip other than maybe a K60 ? Maybe the TKC ? Your thoughts...... O0

I just levered some Kenda BB's on my temporary ADV ride, a morphed SV650. I have only ridden them in the local area and not put any long miles on them or high speed miles. The feel fine on the street, a bit of rumble but not severe. Not sure how long they will run but it is all an experiment anyway. In the middle of this month I have a 1000 mile three day trip planned that is 25% dirt/gravel, 25% paved forest road (read as "goaty") and 50% other. I will report back on how they hold up after 1000 miles and how they feel. Got to admit they look great sitting on the bike, all big and blocky and mean. I had read some posts that they were all but impossible to mount without a tire machine and they are verrrrry stiff and really heavy but they went on no problem with three tire levers, lots of lube and a milk crate

Yea, please take pictures and give us your report and thoughts..... Ive read on many ADV web sites that guys are getting good mileage out of the front but the rears are a disappointment and im seeing post from 1000-2500 miles and that's about it for the rear...... :( I like the look, but if they are fried and bald when I get to my ride "states"... whats the point... :D

Just looking again at the K60 Scout, they remind me a bit of the old Avon Gripsters. I had excellent luck with them on my TransAlps years ago!

The Heidenau K76 looks interesting too, although more street than dirt. Perhaps a 90/10?

I have been wondering about the Mitas E-07s for some time. Can order from Canada easy enough.
