Well, time is flying by and my S10 is three years old and currently at 42,934 miles. Last year I posted this https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/second-anniversary.27819/#post-396899

First item I want to mention: stalling. I finally became convinced battery voltage was dropping too low during cranking so replaced stock battery with a YTZ14S. Cranking speed improved slightly and voltage drop during start cured. However, the bike has never stalled since. Several folks on this forum insisted my stalling problems were the battery; I believe they were correct.

Failures: headlight bulbs. And today I returned home during twilight and noticed one is burned out so will replace them again after only 6,000 miles.

The rest of the story: One oil and filter change along with rear end oil. Discovered during maintenance the kickstand bolts were loose so a little Loctite along with proper torque added. Also, discovered upper triple clamp bolt was loose, been hearing a knock on rough roads; tighten and no more knock.

Last year due to Covid and a health issue I just didn't get to ride much but hopefully 2021 will be better. On a final note, I still like the bike but beginning to wish for a lighter motorcycle. I was able to check out the new T7 Tenere, while lighter, is to tall bike plus a bit sparse on comfort items such as cruise control. The S10 is going to be hard to replace.

Darn, I forgot to mention I had a the front brake switch recall completed. The recall came at the right time as the cruise control light would occasionally flash. A restart would resolve the problem but then it would return miles later. I have since ridden almost 300 miles with the replacement switch and no problems. I love free fixes.:)

On the issue of stalling: My 2018 non-ES stalled on a regular basis. After reading that poor battery performance has a significant effect on the running of these bikes, one of the things I tried to fix the problem was putting in an Anti-Gravity lithium battery. Lot's o' CCAs. Still stalled. What eventually cured my problem was opening up the throttle-body adjustments and balancing. And I don't think balancing was an issue. The painted screw (the left one on my bike) was closed. I read in this forum about the "3/4 turn-out" remedy. I tried it at 3/4 and it worked. I am currently at 1-full-turn out and the bike runs much better. Has not stalled in a couple of years. I am still experimenting on how many turns are the best, but I consider the stalling issue to be finished.

Top Ten, I did such as you described and bike runs fine. However, the stalls were few and far in between. However, like you, I consider the stalling issue behind me.

Lighter = better. I own a ‘15 S10, a ‘21 Tenere 700, and a ‘19 Tracer 900 GT. I want lighter bikes as age sets in.....the Tracer 900 GT is an addicting bike to ride......decent comfort, light (500 lbs), cruise control, adjustable windshield, factory luggage, smoke’ triple 847cc engine, etc. If you ride one, you will want one......
I am keeping the S10 for a while for the big 3000-7000 mile trips because of comfort, luggage capacity, driveshaft, cruise, wind/weather protection, etc.......but, the Tracer is a great bike. I have ridden the Tracer 5000 miles since purchase in Oct 2020 + while not neglecting the S10 and T700.

Congratulations on 3 years. Mine will be 3 (to me) on April 18th. We both have the best color. :)
I finally got fed up with replacing the headlights and went with LEDs. Hopefully they last longer.
This is my first new motorcycle in the 50 times I've circled the sun and for the first time, my eyes haven't been wandering for something new or different. Love it every time I my leg over the seat.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy the day.

Wisperquiet, yes, the Tracer 9GT is on my radar. I might have already bought one except the color of the matte black with rust orange was a no go... for me. And now that I have delayed, the new 2021 or 2022 model is rather impressive on the spec sheet. Of course, I still need to see one in person.

And, MonkeyBut, yes indeed, we both have the best color; even though I do like the Yamaha yellow at times;)
