Spent over three hours trying to find THE picture .. the first ever of me on a motorcycle and could not come up with it .. so, here are (like second, third and seventh) some old photos of me in the 'glory days' of yesteryear. 2 strokes, expansion chambers and then the KLR. A fun way to spend this evening.

The challenge: Post photos of you on a motorcyle that predate mine :)

No. 7: 2010, Grand Lake Colorado. Me and my wife.

No. 6: 2005, Departing from my brother's driveway in SPokane heading for Prudhoe Bay, AK.

No. 5: 2004, Saddlesore 1000 aboard the Gixxer... (at 550 mi point is Salt Lake City).

>>> and you thought .. "heck, this'll be easy!"

No. 4: Time Warp here. ... 1977, This is after Samanth (the Shepherd) and I decided that'd I would make a better photographer than her (1975 water buffalo) GT750. Crashed it a short time later when a fellow mentally exchanged red for green at an intersection.

No. 3: 1972/73. Sacramento, CA. Novice class and having tons of fun. TM 250

No. 2: 1971, Sacramento. Suzuki T-20 (250) and my friend on his Kawasaki 350 as we head off for a camping weekend in a cloud of two-stroke smoke (thanks mom!)

++++

No 1: Reserved ... I WILL find that photo from my first (non-mini bike) ride on the Honda 305.

So .. Been riding since I was a kid ... wait ... still a kid, just able to drink beer now ::003::

Who's game???

These are of two friends and me with our 1975 Bultacos taken in 1976. I recall that bicentennial beards were the thing to do that year. A pic of 3 of us at an enduro in Missouri and one with two of us in my back yard and one with me having fun at a place close to my house that was a neat place to play

That one of the HD jumping is a picture I took of my best friend [Jeff] on my bike at the Pits a place we rode at a lot, now a city dump.
Michelle is about 15 in that picture.

I got to ask what the first two were? Did you go QA50 to Z50 to CT70?

My got my first bike at 14 years old (1974)

Honda CL 125 i had ridden all of my cousins 50,70 but this one was all mine. Nearly all of us young boys had a bike, we were not allowed to ride 25 miles into town but could ride all throughout our community. I spent 2 years riding that thing to caves, bluffs, swimming holes, campouts, buddies houses, girlfriend houses and even grannys and paw paws. It was a great time in rural TN for a young boy, if the law pulled us over they wanted to know who you were and who were your mom and dad. Then it was be careful boys. And if you didn't wear a helmet a neighbor would tell on you. It was cool. I thought I was too.

My first own motorcycle was a 1970 CT-70. I was just a tad big for it but ran the wheels off of it. I took my driving test with it at 15. I then moved up to a 1971 SL-175 (check out them pants) at 16 and then I turned into a motorcycle junkie. Been hooked ever since. I just can't kick it. :)

Not the oldest, but my favourite of the oldies. My first bike was an R60/5 BMW. I got a brand new R90/6 when I was 17, after 6 months experience on the R60. As soon as the new bike smell wore off, I was out in the dirt... on this occasion "trials riding".

That was the great thing about the BMW club I was in - we used to have all sorts of crazy events, and maybe trashed the bikes somewhat (that's what they are there for!) but was a great way to learn how to ride.

Best guess this is about 35 years old, somewhere around age 13. Most of the skills I still use today were learned on that little bike. I literally rode that KE100 to its death (exploded gearbox). Did you guys know you were supposed to change the crankcase oil?

I do fit into my helmet a lot better now.

Also where you learned to wheelie! Something I missed out on, always riding big underpowered road bikes... Oh except for the TZ350, but any wheelies on that were accidental!

Ah, yes, wheelie lessons. Here are 3 pics of my oldest son, now 47 and my adventure touring partner, practicing wheelies in our yard when he was a young'un.

Taught him everything I know. At least the important stuff. ;D

True, and something I never got out of my system. A few years ago when I had my CRF450X I'd just ride back and forth in the back yard riding wheelies endlessly. Just something that got into my blood. I still turn off the TCS from time to time on the S10 and enjoy a few smaller ones. Can't seem to stop.

I understand Dirt Dad. Me either! This big XT does a good job of lifting the front with the TC off. ;D

A friend's big brother had the same bike in the same color in the mid-'70s, still remember drooling over it.

What would AUD $2700 be in today's money?
