I wanted to share with the group what a great job this guy did restoring this lathe. Very nice job. Im guessing he has many hundreds of hours in this project. A year or more to restore.

Years ago I saw a machinist restore an old flat leather belt driven lathe. It reminded me of a huge foot pedal singer sewing machine with a cast iron frame and intricate design and details on it. We put a 480 3 phase motor to drive it after it was done. It was a true work of art that was functional and used daily. So many people with such skill. Your lathe looks great! He did an outstanding job restoring it.

Rodney Hind the guy who made my English Pool Cue was a Lathe Operator. When he retired he bought the lathe he worked on, had it set up in his garage, and started making cues. It was great going up there and picking bits of wood ( that you cant get any more) out of a rack that will become your Cue built to your spec. I had another cue which had a 9mm Tip which i had cut so it was interchangable with the one i had made which was 8mm. He made Cues for a few Snooker World Champs, top guy.

I inherited a smaller version of that when my Dad passed, and it was originally from my Grand-Dad's machine shop. Made .22LR zip guns on it when I was a kid, plus all sorts of other stuff. The bearing journals were poured lead babbitt. Sold it during a move after it being in the family for more than 50-60 years.

There are a few things I miss from from our larger property days. My tractor is pretty high on that list. I did love that thing. Probably only second to my chainsaw.

You have an impressive collection of fasteners.

Dang I don't have any pictures of my tractor! It is a 66 Ford 2000 with a 3 cylinder Lucas motor. It is almost as old as I am and holding up way better! It has been a great little tractor but wears me out using it. No power anything and on a hill will work you to no end!

This Kubota has 3400 hours on it. It still runs great. Having to split it, I am sure glad it doesn't have a cab. I'm thinking of fixing the clutch and trading it in.
