Sorry to hear you lost your S10 to a deer. Still, it could have been worse. At least you guys made it through! Still, I swear to you though, that I will exact significant revenge for you upon Bambi during the upcoming bowseason.
Thanks, I feel pretty lucky with the whole thing. Feel free to take as much revenge on Bambi as you like, I will do the same this fall.

As far as which dealer... that is as no brainer for me as getting another Tenere. Romney goes out of their way, I mean way above and beyond to support the adventure community. Buying from them is never in doubt. This will be the 3rd Tenere, and fifth bike I've bought from them in less then 4 years. I suspect most people here know I have a very good relationship with the management of Romney. I still pay what everyone else pays for a bike, but I'm always happy when I can support them with another bike purchase.

Highly likely red is in my future. I've owned some great red bikes. Another one will be just fine.

Interesting how your red looks a lot closer to the color I see in the Yamaha ads. When I see the bike in person it looks so red, red to me. Maybe it's just an indoor lighting thing.

I got mine from Romney very early this Spring and they had at least 2 or 3 other red ones as well as at least one silver one. They have won my allegiance also. I enjoy the 1 1/2 hour ride over to them as well. So when are you going to get it? This month?

Think we ought to start a club on here for folk that have hit deer. Im pleased to hear that you came away uninjured. Wish it had been thst way for me when I hit one. Please take revenge as much as possible...would be great if you could come over to the UK and cull a few too coz it seems like no-one rlse is doing so here. I see so many now that it scares the crap out of me!

For obvious reasons, this is a topic of great interest to me. Would you mind telling your experience of hitting a deer? What kind of bike, how fast, results. Right now I'm aware of one other Tenere rider that hit one at a similar speed to mine and his results were the same as mine. That is far too small a sample for me to draw any conclusions, but I am interested in learning from others.

This was the second one I hit on a bike. I've had several other bike episodes where deer were within inches of the bike that I managed not to hit. They seem to be almost everywhere I ride.

I hit a small deer last year in Woodland Park, CO. I was doing about 30 when the wife said, "deer, deer, deer" over the intercom. I did not see it until it tried to jump over my front wheel. I was riding a 2005 DL650 (V-Strom). Damage to the bike was minimal; broken headlight protector, a small crack in the fairing and deer fur stuck in the crack. The deer died at the scene; I did not go down. I stopped to check for damage and before I was finished going over the bike, lots of rescue and police vehicles arrived on the scene. Although I did not need them that day, I was thankful for the response since I might have needed it.

Hi dirtdad. You know I sent you a pm about my deer experience. Fred..probably best that the Merc didn't slam on his brakes??/and or swerve into your path? May have actually been good driving from the Merc, knowing that you were there too? Pleased you missed it!!

Sorry to hear about your bike DD, but glad that you have come away from the incident unscathed ::008:: :)

A new S10 in 2016 eh mmmmmmm, I wonder what improvements will be made to the current model by then

My guess is that the next significant upgrade will be semi-active suspension and turning ABS, finally catching up to what the European makers offer now.

Good luck with your search D D let us know what you decide on .......I'm guessing it wont be a colour Black ;)
Nope, not black.

Picked it up yesterday. Insurance softened the transition cost in a huge way.

My wife kept asking me if I was excited to get a new bike. The truth is I wasn't. Didn't even bother to order any of the new stuff for it until Thursday evening. I've come to the conclusion that I wasn't done with my black bike. It had taken me on the best rides of my life, I have thousands of pictures of it in great place, and I didn't get rid of it on my terms. Financially it didn't make sense to fix it, so I get it. But I clearly had some attachment to that bike and there were a few moments of guilt riding the new one and treating the last one like it was scrap.

The new bike is quicker and surprisingly smooth. I'm sure in short order it will become "my" bike.

She has already made the offer to take it off my hands, and return my original one that she stole from me.

I'm in no hurry to take her up on the offer.

I give it 50/50 on if it becomes hers.

I agree with Trike. You are doomed.

Yesterday you picked up YOUR new bike.

Today it is 50/50 that it is yours or hers.

Math people here, does that mean tomorrow it is 75/25 hers and we are going from 0/100 yesterday to 50/50 today to 100/0 tomorrow and it is entirely DM's bike?

Or is the progression.
100/0 yesterday
50/50 today
75/25 Tomorrow
87.5/12.5 on Monday
93.75/6.25 on Tuesday
my head hurts doing math, so by Next weekend DD just gets to pat it as he walk by and DM gets to ride it?

29 years of marriage has taught me to never bet against DM getting what she wants.

I'm fairly confident it's mine for now. I'm not bold enough to predict the ownership of it 12 months from now.

You could always swap the 4 red pieces for the 4 blue pieces. Maybe that'll hold her off?
O:)

Not sure that will work. She was hoping I would not be all that impressed with the cruise control. It would make her less interested if I said it wasn't anything impressive. I told her the truth, that might have been a mistake. I don't think a color switch will last long.

Sorry for the deer strike. ::010:: Happy you were OK! ::008:: Very happy for you and your wife for your new Tenere! ::012:: May you ride many happy miles without seeing any deer!!! And thank you for your report that your bike did not go down after hitting the deer. My wife and I were riding in Utah on an anniversary trip in April when a deer hit us on our way back to our B & B after dinner in a remote part of southern Utah. I saw it walking across the road in the opposing lane coming toward me, so I swerved to avoid it. Almost made it, but it's head hit my wife's boot and the left side case. Cracked the side case, a little blood on the outside of wife's boot, and we were fine. Deer was down for the count after the front edge of the case hit its head. My adrenalin did not come back down to a normal level for hours! :-X I still thank God we weren't hurt . ::012:: The leading plastic edge of the Yamaha case is cracked, but still strong and water tight. ::022:: Anyone have any ideas how to repair the cracked plastic?

Thanks...I've ridden 530 happy miles so far. It only took about 20 miles before a deer jumped out of the woods and ran right along side of me on the left side of the road in my direction of travel. I was on the brakes hard, and this one did not decide to make the cut to cross in front of me. That was the ride home.

On ride two I had a bird decide it had lived long enough committed suicide on the lower portion of my windscreen. Took me 2 Teneres and over 50K miles to log the first (non-bug) kill. This one has done it inside of 150 miles. Hopefully it's done now. Did my third ride yesterday and didn't come close to hitting any wildlife. Only had one deer I had to brake for on that ride.

Glad that worked out so well for both of you. They are such dangerous creatures.

Could you talk a bit about how your new 2015 differs from your previous bike in feel/performance? Just curious.....
Ride safe!!!
