It's time for the next segment. I am really slow at this...

After we left our camp at the Baja 1000 site near San Felipe, we headed South in direction of Bahia de Los Angeles.

The day was pretty uneventful, but the evening not so much. We opted to share a hotel room that night as we were in a need of good showers. The evening started great as we met a local family who had set up a large BBQ area in the parking lot right in front of our room. We were treated with delicious ceviche tacos and made new friends.

However the rest of the night took a different turn...to make a long story short...my friend JP has a fairly strong nut allergy. A couple years ago he had to be hospitalized while working on show in London.

Around 8pm we headed out to find a place to have some drinks and a few more bites. We met a local couple in their Dodge Minivan who guided us to a lodge outside of town (can't remember the name right now). We were in good company as there was a group of about 10 or so Mexican AdvRiders already in the bar area and we had met a couple of these guys earlier that day on the road.
We placed our orders but despite our questions and precautions, the meal that was served to JP at dinner had traces of peanuts. It quickly became a rush to find Benadryl and head back to the hotel room to have this Epipen ready just in case.

After making sure he was okay, I went out again solo to get some cold beers at the local market (still open!) and to my surprise, this younger guy and his girlfriend approached me and started asking about my friend...they also indicated where the local health center was. I believe they were working at the lodge and they had been the ones running around to find Benadryl...it was nice to see that they care. I thanked them a lot, grabbed my beers and headed back to the room...ready to move on and start a fresh day of adventure tomorrow.

It ended up being okay except for him being sick all night from all the Benadryl he had taken (and probably compounded by stress).

There was still a lot of ground to cover ahead of us.

Next installment...Punta Abreojos!

We wanted to camp on the Pacific side and catch the sunset. Initially we were tempted to go to Bahia Tortugas but we ended up settling on Punta Abreojos.
it is a beautiful drive, mostly all paved. It felt really remote.

We drove around a bit and initially ventured near the beautiful beach to spend the night there. However it was quite challenging...all of us got stuck at various stages..but it was all fun.
This is where having good friends really helps, as I can't imagine getting this bike unstuck by myself.
Eventually wanting a little bit more comfort we decided to head over to Campo Rene to spend the night, and enjoy a warm dinner.

Campo Rene location is a bit more protected from the elements which makes a great place to spend the night.

We also meet some friendly travelers while we were there.
