Louisville, Kentucky to be exact. Very bad and aggressive drivers in here, mixed with poorly design road layout=danger. Liked Utah's grid system better. Can't get that song from the commercial out of my head. Man, I hate when that happens.
Louisville is not good. Too many "lane shavers". I avoid it. Definitely bad news for riders. I'll take my Tahoe through there, though. Good advice, Ollie! I concur.
How about a thread on city expressway traffic? What to avoid, when, etc? Maybe we could do a database. What do you guys think?
I'll start: If you're coming south on I275 through Tampa, rush hour, get in the fast lane and stay there. Crank it if you must, but stay in the left hand lane. You've got plenty of room in the breakdown lane if things get tight (except for the overpasses). The "no clue", folks and hot rodding kids are busy screwing around with the on ramps/off ramps, etc. The hammer lane has little of that. Ride tight if you're with a buddy rider. The only people that want the left hand lane know the same thing you now know. Let them in, give them some space, and roll with it. Once you hit the Howard Franklin Bridge to St. Petersburg, it opens way up. Take any lane you want. Nice, wide bridge-our tax dollars worked in this case. Ha ha!
Hang in the left lane through St. Pete, and watch the I175 split to downtown and stay in the left most, I275 through lane. You might get pinched off with a few "Exit Only", lanes if you're riding in the RH lane. A few nice sweepers after that and you're at the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (toll booth). From the toll booth, get in the right lane and enjoy the high altitude view from the Skyway-it's stunning!! Traffic speed over the Skyway is reasonable. Most people like to take in the view... From there you're clear all the way to the Tamiami Trail and Alligator Alley. I've been running this for close to 20 years on bikes here in FL. I've only had to jump the brakes hard a few times (well, more than a few
)
