Finally, my home state passed a texting ban. Wish they had gone all the way with a handheld ban too. Now if they would start airing more commercials like this.
Which state are you in? I'm with you 100%, they should just ban cell use while driving altogether. Pull over if you absolutely must make a call.

It's been banned in Colorado for over a year. Now, if they would only ban cell phones (except hands free), we would ALL be a lot safer!

Every time I see someone talking and driving, I cringe. My car got rear ended by a knuckle head on a cell phone.

Louisville, Kentucky to be exact. Very bad and aggressive drivers here, mixed with poorly designed road layout=danger. Liked Utah's grid system better. Can't get that song from the commercial out of my head. Man, I hate when that happens.

I wish it would go country-wide as well. It would save lots of lives. I see idiots texting all the time while driving.

Louisville is not good. Too many "lane shavers". I avoid it. Definitely bad news for riders. I'll take my Tahoe through there, though. Good advice, Ollie! I concur.

How about a thread on city expressway traffic? What to avoid, when, etc? Maybe we could do a database. What do you guys think?

I'll start: If you're coming south on I275 through Tampa, rush hour, get in the fast lane and stay there. Crank it if you must, but stay in the left hand lane. You've got plenty of room in the breakdown lane if things get tight (except for the overpasses). The "no clue", folks and hot rodding kids are busy screwing around with the on ramps/off ramps, etc. The hammer lane has little of that. Ride tight if you're with a buddy rider. The only people that want the left hand lane know the same thing you now know. Let them in, give them some space, and roll with it. Once you hit the Howard Franklin Bridge to St. Petersburg, it opens way up. Take any lane you want. Nice, wide bridge-our tax dollars worked in this case. Ha ha!

Hang in the left lane through St. Pete, and watch the I175 split to downtown and stay in the left most, I275 through lane. You might get pinched off with a few "Exit Only", lanes if you're riding in the RH lane. A few nice sweepers after that and you're at the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (toll booth). From the toll booth, get in the right lane and enjoy the high altitude view from the Skyway-it's stunning!! Traffic speed over the Skyway is reasonable. Most people like to take in the view... From there you're clear all the way to the Tamiami Trail and Alligator Alley. I've been running this for close to 20 years on bikes here in FL. I've only had to jump the brakes hard a few times (well, more than a few :))

That's a really good idea. A database would probably be best, and we can just reference it in discussions like we've been doing with some of the other ones. We can even embed Google maps to indicate where the exact bad areas are. I'll try to get something set up, with it broken down by country and state so people can easily find the info.

The Brits have made it illegal to use a cell phone in a car. One of the first things the police check when called to accidents.

Police here will check your phone in the event of an accident and can also make phone company divulge if it was in use prior to an accident.
Instant fine and licence endorsement if you get caught. If proved in an accident the charge gets bumped higher as well.

I'm living in CA where phone use has been banned(other than hands free) for some time. I still see it continually!!!! :'( :'( :'( :'(

What needs to happen is enforcement, while I've seen some it doesn't scratch the surface of the number of people doing it, so the practice continues for the majority of the population.
