Got a quick question and wanting to see everyone's answers. How do you get on and off your bike. Meaning what specific technique do you use, do you stand on a peg first, step through (over) or throw a leg over. I am a tall guy and can do whatever I want but for someone just a little smaller I think it could get challenging. I think with panniers you might need to do something other than the "proper" way msf courses offer. I am curious to everyone's answers

Entering from the left side of the bike, I'll place my left foot on the footpeg, stand up on the footpeg, then throw my right leg over and onto the right footpeg. From there, I'll shift my weight onto the right footpeg to get the bike upright, place my feet on the ground, lift the kickstand, then ride off like a boss.

As above with two variants. I lean into the bike a bit to get it a bit more upright, and I lock the front brake to prevent it sliding or otherwise moving unexpectedly.

Left foot on the ground, karate roundhouse my right leg over the bike, shift weight to the right to remove the kickstand.

6'2" male here. Bike has panniers , passenger backrest and smaller Pelican case just behind the backrest. For taller bikes my dealer recommends start from left side with kickstand down. Place left boot on peg, stand tall, swing right leg around and place on ground. Simple, stable and EZ. I am 73 and this is the easiest for me. Passenger the same way, with right foot going directly onto the right peg.

Caution: be damn sure there is no sand or loose gravel under the bike for the right foot to slip on.

Yeah, that. For some reason I couldn't find the correct word when I was typing that.

Same here too. But getting off I tend to get off on the right side.

I put it on the center stand, get behind the bike, place both hands on the back seat, and leap frog over. ::014::

I am a mere 5'8" with a 30 inseam. Still, I just swing my right leg over and place it on the ground. My left foot is on the ground as well, not on the foot peg. I do also have panniers to maneuver around. No problemo...

I was recently wondering if there is a technique to start off the center stand while keeping your feet on the pegs. So no wiggling the beast of the stand and then start, but rather giving it a hard push forward while standing on the pegs, and then gripping the throttle when the rear wheel touches the ground.
Is that just asking for disaster?

I used to do center stand drive offs on some of my earlier bikes. Have not done it on my S10 or DL650 or KLR650.
Did it on a C14 Connie and GS1150 as well as many Japanese bikes CB160 GT350 GT550...

A few accessory center stands state do not even sit on the bike when it is on the center stand. (Happy Trails for one)

hahaha. my legs are so short. To get off the bike I put the side stand down, apply front brake and hope off. then put it on the center stand. To get back on... With center stand deployed.. I climb on that beast, feet don't even touch the ground once I get on her. Then I rock the beast forward and on my way I go.

Walk up to my Tenere and take a gander at this:

No instructions needed. It BEGS for you to mount it like the horse (mule) that it is.

Left foot in the stirrup, Swing your leg over and you are mounted. "Snick Snick, giddyup"
