There are MANY places to go and things to see in California and this is a route you don't want to miss... https://goo.gl/maps/GVAN7r6DEXw Avenue of the Giants is a pleasant ride. Rough twisty roads (turn the TC off if you are riding quickly) with beautiful scenery. Every stop will show you the local culture. Walking through the giant redwoods are worth the stop. Warning: if you are allergic to smell of growing marijuana... do not take this route :D
that's a gooder, but hit Leggitt to Rockport south on the 1...best road ever..early in the morning ::013::

Re: 49 States in 6 months on a Tenere. Come join me for a ride

May 15-19! I'll be making reservations for the 1st leg of the trip to Hyder Alaska soon. I plan to get a "bunk house" style cabin here http://www.bluecedarsrvpark.com for the 1st and 4th nights in Prince George BC. Nights 2&3 will be here http://www.sealaskainn.com/campground.html
Days 1 and 5 will be 500 mile days. Days 2&4 will be a little less at 430miles. I scheduled in 1 rest day in Hyder to go see the Glacier if the weather cooperates but plan on a lot of rain.... Who's going to ride with me??
Departing early morning(5:00-6:00am) from Arlington Wa. 15 May.

Howdy guys! ::022::
I'm planning a cross country trip to 49 states this summer and would like to ride with other Tenere owners( and ADV riders) as I travel from state to state.
My plan is to do sections of the Az. and Ut. BDR between the 1-12 of June. I know that's not enough time to do the entire route but hopefully I can get in a couple sections here and there. (I'll have 6 months worth of gear on my bike so it will be the easier sections) Anyone here want to join me?
My website for the trip is www.tenereacrosstheusa.com
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z0zJD9DV3k-Y.kbLB7UsRY2Rw&usp=sharing I know this is NOT the BDR route, but it's as close as Google maps will let me get ;-) I'll be visiting a fellow Tenere rider in St George Ut., so that's the reason for the detour.....
Let me know if yall want to join me, I hope I can ride with a few of you!

If you come down into the Oklahoma area, I would take a ride with you or give you a place to overnight at least.

Has anyone done the CoBDR? I'd like to do the northern section from the Wyoming border to about I-70. I'd cut over to Denver. The time frame would be about the 15th of June. Is it even passable?

I'm just outside of Burlington, VT. If I'm around you've got a guest room, if not the backyard for camping (and pwr if you need it). Looking forward to reading of your travels!

The blog has a nice start to it. They equipment hyperlinks are a nice touch.

That route is only a "suggestion" I only use it as a pattern of which states to go to next. I'll be in each state 3-4 days to explore with other Tenere owners. I'd want to ride dirt roads whenever possible. Once I get closer to departure in May, follow me at www.tenereacrosstheusa.com There will be weekly (if not daily) updates of my plans and travels.
The attachment is closer to the 1st 1/2 of the trip.

Re: 49 States in 6 months on a Tenere. Come join me for a ride

The Alaska leg had to be canceled because of a broken foot( of the guy that was joining me) I wasn't going to do a double solo iron butt burner to Hyder and back. That leaves me more time to explore the most excellent roads of Northern California after I stop and see Seth Laam for a rebuilt seat in Redding. New blog in the works, I'll post it up tonight.

Looks like the trip of a lifetime, Glen!

There's a decent group of Tenere owners in San Diego so you should be able to find somebody to show you around when you get down this way. I work too damn much to make any promises, but PM me when you get down here if you don't have anything pre-arranged. Definitely some great rides in this area.
