The vast majority of consumers tend to pay attention to only numbers (They do not understand mechanics, only consumers). A higher number gives the feeling that it is better than a lower number. In a globalized world, some terms are globalized too, for those who want to "sell", they will try to find a better number that sells their product. If they cannot find the number that suits them (HP), they will not publish any number... or they will publish some number similar to the competition (Torque)….If you look at the official Yamaha websites in the USA or Canada (reliable countries)….they do not publish HP….they publish the number of holes that the injectors have, the degree of inclination of the valves , …the diameter of the valves, that the pistons are made of forged aluminum….etc, etc….but they do not publish the HP….In less reliable countries (like mine)…..the advertising changes from: -I don't know if I understand the point you are trying to make. Isn't that like saying that 100mph is the same as 161kph, or are you saying that a cv is French for EXACTLY 1 hp, so they should say 110cv and not 112cv?
-) 2010: “New S10, 1200 cm3 110 HP….”. To..
-) 2014: "New S10, 1200 cm3, digital display, 112 CV"......And there are other publications, which ensure that the engine was modified, giving it 2CV more than the previous engine......"Maybe" the valves were modified ….but the power never increased (110HP)
