You guys must be spoiled, I literally cannot hear any clattering at all compared to other bikes I've owned in the past.. this thing is like a sewing machine compared to my M109R I had a few years ago.. in Neutral it sounded like a bunch of chains being shaken around!

Anyone ever hear a Ducati dry clutch? Thats clattering..

Yea, I have a few KTM's. While they run fantastic, those motors don't sound right. lol

The 500EXC sounds like a bucket of bolts.

I wouldn't worry about it!

Holy crap!! Is that what is supposed to sound like? Seems like a solid cover would eliminate most of the noise. I usually don't worry abut how something sounds, as long as it is normal/correct, but that is annoying.

Yes, it is supposed to sound like this. This is a trademark sound of a Ducati. You could be blindfolded and have one pull up next to you at a light, and you will know its a Ducati specifically from the chatter from the dry clutch. Having the cover off is actually the "feature" to show the parts!

Put a full Arrows system on it. It'll sing like it's living in Italy.
Yamaha ships you a 90% finished bike. Then invites you to choose your own finish. Tenere rallys are awesome to see all the different finishes. But all are the same Super Tenere underneath.
If you want to hear a bike sing there is nothing like a 6 into 1

Annoying? Enjoyment of that sound is a mark of the Ducatisti, so how dare you.
;)

We have a guy who comes to the Romney WV event every year with a yellow Ducati Monster on knobbies. Cool guy and bike, who you can always hear coming.

::026:: Youtube has videos of CBXs on full chat, awesome sound, like an F1 car under full throttle.

Got to ride one years ago when I had a Suzi GS1000G and was smitten.

If you've got a full skid plate on the bike, all noises will be amplified. I agree with everyone else that these are a slightly noisy motor.

And not very sexy sounding. Now, don't get me wrong....I love the bike, and everything about her....wouldn't change a thing....but, like I've said before....not enough cylinders for a sexy sound. My SENA takes care of the sound(s).
