I brought it up to Craig about the 14 basket in the morning. just got a call that it will be a 13 basket. Most likely because of the back order. In the mean time, the weather looks great for the next week and the grasshopper wants to take me places ::003::
I may upgrade at a later time, after you guys are done waiting for yours.
"most likely because of the back order".
Me, I'd up the game.
1st: explain to Craig that the '14 parts have been improved over the 13 parts and are compatible with your bike. Be firm, not rude and be sure he understands that you WANT the upgraded parts installed. Ask what needs to be done to make this happen. Offer to pay any additional cost associated with the upgraded parts. There should not be an upcharge for the clutch basket but you should be prepared to pay for the upgraded CCT. There's a good chance that Craig is not aware of the upgrades and the that they are compatible with your bike.
2nd: immediately call Yamaha Customer Service and make the same case. Do this regardless of the response you get from Craig.
Give it a go, you've got nothing to loose and a lot to gain........ The right thing for Craig and Yamaha to do is to get you the latest upgraded parts for your rebuild.
I took similar action when my head-light harness failed a few days after the new pn was released and long before the recall. I was successful in having the harness replaced as "good will', bike was out of warranty, and with the upgraded pn.
If Craig or Yamaha can't/won't source the basket, that sucks. surely they have them available in Japan for new builds. Or perhaps an inmate here that has scored an updated basket can make you a loan/sale until you, Craig, and Yamaha are able to source another.
