Hi,
I'm from Sweden, so I appologize for my lack of knowledge in motorbike english :)
I have just had my XT1200Z 2011 in for 80000km service (50000miles) here in Sweden at an authorized Yamaha dealer near Stockholm.
A day after I got it back I started noticing strange problems with it.
When I was letting go of the throttle to change gear, the throttle did not go completely to idle as it should. Like it was stuck on low revs. I could go 30mph if I let go of the throttle when in first gear.
Today I got another problem that it would just turn off when in idle.
These problems occur now and then and then just dissapear for w while.

I went to the Yahama center today, and they took the bike for a testrun but the problem did typically not appear then.

The Yamaha center seems reluctant to try and look deeper into this problem. I wonder if someone here have heard of this problems and knows if it could be related to the service I just did?
The 50000 mile service is the biggest one so they could have messed something up, right?

Thanks in advance

Did they itemize the services performed? Did they adjust the valves?

Sounds like their tech messed with the TPS and brought on the problem.
If the people your dealing with wont acknowledge they may had "f'ed" it up you have a problem.
The one problem will be related to the other if it is the TPS.

TPS can become screwed up by cable adjustment if not set properly or messing with the TPS it self.

Yes, I have a list of what they did and they did adjust the valves. In the Yamaha sheet it says it's the 40.000km service they did.

OK, thank you. The problem is that they have not seen the problem. It's there for a while but disappears.
I did a test drive just now, and no problems. And also, no error codes have been displayed
At the Yamaha center they checked some stuff on the display, and he showed me that on idle the throttle was 15 (some value from the computer) and when using the throttle it jumped right up to 22.
He said this could be why the bike is behaving strangely. So I guess they think it's the TPS, but won't fix it for me.
I will put on my angry face and go there again

I would probably first start with the cables. When you do a valve check you remove them from the throttle bodies and push them over. If you get the “twisted” and then re install, they could be tight. Your issue with it happening sometimes might be due to the bars being Left-Center-Right.
(Someone) check that first. While checking that, unplug and re plug in all the cables under the air box. Maybe one is not fully seated or lots of dirt they didn’t clean. Check the easy stuff first.
How many valves were out of spec? By how much. Did you retrieve the numbers from them?
Do you know if they have synced the throttle bodies ? If someone got to messing with those two screws , will also cause what you do scribe.
(Someone) probably needs to check these few easy items first. It’s probably a simple fix.

Let us know if that fixes your issue. If not, we will go deeper.

Thanks
