I just got my Jesse bags mounted, and got to thinking about stickers. Not sure I'm into the whole ADV bike sticker thing, I like them on "experienced" bikes that you can tell have been places. Mine hasn't been anywhere to speak of, yet. I've got tons of stickers laying around, and a blank canvas. I had a tiny set of Dragon stickers on a bike I'd ridden to Deal's gap a few times, that's as close as any of my other bikes has been to stuck up.

I was considering putting some reflective tuning fork stickers on the back of the bags similar to the ones I had on my FJR. Should I go crazy and start advertising, or just keep it subtle?

I pulled the factory stickers and have put some on that I liked better. I'm not a sticker freak though and will keep them to a minimum.
I guess if I went to South America it might be different.

I'm very selective with what stickers I put on my panniers, no stickers just for the sake of having stickers. All must have a personal meaning to me. Military/VFW, cool places I've been on THIS bike. No gear or tourist trap advertisements except maybe the Deal's Gap Dragon. 8)

I was considering putting aftermarket parts companies stickers they include with their products on the bottom side of the skid plate. :) then I thought it might be tempting fate for a photo of them on display.

Yeah .... stickers. Don't know why but I've always been a sucker for a sticker ;) It's a kinda cool way to express your character and views I guess. Now me being a complete tart ... I'll adorn the boxes .... not the machine .... with all sorts of stuff. Being the 'ULTIMATE ADVENTURER' I've made the absolute sacrifice and ridden to the most lairy of places on earth all for the sake of research and the edification of the members of this forum. I've gotten em from Hooters (10 locations no less), Spearmint Rhino, The Axe Bar, ACE Cafe London, HRC, Stringfelllows, Ms B's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies, Area 51, The Bear Pit Fight Club, Daily Planet (Melbourne), Bunny Ranch, Pascha, Soapland, Big Sister ..... the list goes on. I'd go to more but what with the day job and visits to the special clinic I just ain't got the time. ??? :) ::021::

Get em stuck up ::014::

Stickers happen! I don't even think about it until I see a particularly cool sticker, then without much thought I will put it on the bike. I dont go out of my way to get stickers and certainly don't plan on buying panniers for the sake of stickers. So far the S10 is stickerless except for the stock sticker. I guess only time will tell as to how stickered up it will get.

I have a pile of vendor stickers that have collected for a long time. It seems like every online vendor sends their stickers when you buy stuff and then the manufacturer of whatever stuff you bough usually has their stickers in the product box. Currently, I only have Twisted Throttle’s sticker the back of my case cuz they sponsor this site. Otherwise, I have a Barber sticker from when I was up there last month for the vintage fest. I have a Florida Trail Riders sticker cuz I’m a member. That’s it. Except, I also have an oval Alaska sticker, but I won’t put it on until I make ground in 2012.

Do stickers stick well to the Jesse finish? I imagine good quality ones do, but some cheaper ones make me wonder about the texture being too much.

Post up pics if you are a sticker whore!*

* "sticker", not "sticky whore". Please.

Pm those pictures.

Virtually all the factory stickers came off, including the Tenere one. I added the "Die Hard" one to my right pannier, but did not clean it properly first and it didn't last. I'll install one of the "YST" stickers when available.

I like the stock super tenere sticker on the front, all the other add ons look like garbage. i saw the Wasp thread since he bought the bike and was just so thrilled with the first pictures is part of the reason I put down the deposit and waited 11 months, then I watched the deterioration of the wasp bike and the last straw was them ugly stickers. To each his own. I find them repulsive.
RonH,
Did you forget what you said earlier ?

Ace Cafe - Nice sticker but you did notice that there was no 5 Michelin Stars on the door.

In Yosemite, we are in a construction Zone. I stop my wife rides up beside me to chat. She stops, puts her foot down, road collapses under her boot ( she is 5'5' 130) the next thing I know I am on ground her bike on top of mie. War she hurt, of course not she stepped off and avoided the whole thing.

So now we have "well packed" two bikes on top of each other. I walk back to the guy in the car behind and say, would you mind giving us a hand her. He looks at me and says. "I can't leave my child along in the car, while I help" I look inside expecting to see an infant. Instead it is a haelthy 14 year old boy playing on a game boy

Just then a Brit runs up laughing and says, " hey don't you hate it when they fall over like that?" As we rag the bikes apart he says, "Did you really go to the ACE Cafe?" I said yes. He says to me, " food is fantastic isn't it?"

I look at him and say, "it was the worst cooked breakfast I have ever paid for"

He smiles and says, "just checking" to see if you mailed ordered that sticker.

We are laughing so hard picking up the bikes becomes a problem.

Oooooo ... ya don't go to the ACE for the cuisine. No gastronomic delights to be had there. Having said that I had a decent organic sausage sandwich in there once. :)

I always put destination stickers on my top box (never bike). Since I don't run the Tenere with a top box wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I like the looks with the clean Pelican case on the side. For now I'm putting my destination stickers on the top of the boxes. Allows for clean side photos. I'm not sure what I'll do long term. For now this works for me.

an example of correct stickering IMO. Not mine. The owner had been to all those places on his KTM

I mostly do destination stickers. Pikes Peak, Monument Valley, etc. I do have some memorial stickers and did use some reflective manufacturer stickers for added visibility. I also put a couple of highly reflective stickers at the rear corners of the bags and a diagonal strip of yellow/black reflective zebra tape on the backs of the bags for reflective reasons. I only stickered the fuel cell on the FJR, but the Ten is more of a fun bike. If a sticker makes me laugh or I had a good memory of that place from the ride, what the hell. I could care less what others think. At least I can pick my bike out in the parking lot. And no one ever asks me "Did you just get that bike?" If you ever hear that, the word 'poseur' should immediately come to mind. It's just a bike, play with it. I did find some fun state flag stickers and am putting each state on as I ride in it. It made me smile.

Eh, wanting Ron to stop doing what he does, is like trying to persuade Oscar the Grouch to be perky. The neighborhood would be a duller place without a monster sticking his head out the trash can to grumble.
