Anyone knows how to get the steel insert nut that's inside the handlebar out? I'm thinking of getting the http://www.vibranator.com/dual_sport_s/21.htm and need to remove the bolt inside so that I can insert the product. I'm told that it is welded on through a hole in the handlebar but I don't see that. Hope the photo uploads.
Its for sure welded in.. You have to drill the weld at the top of the bars and then pull the bung out....

May I ask why you have so much vibration in your bars ? What have you done to your bike ?

@ jaxon, Some new bikes vibrate more than others...>:D

You could do as much or maybe more, with the Rox Anti vibration Riser. It is a two inch riser, but you don't need to pull it back. Just straight up, or even forward.

If you don't like that, try putting lead shot, or bb's in the bars and fill with silicon.

Thanks All

Tabasco

Normally, the stock ST vibes was not an issue until I installed an Akro slipon, K&N filter and PCV. Had the PCV tuned at the local Dyno shop and notice increase vibes. The vibes were not horrible but not pleasant. My dyno guy said that when you change the hardware on the bike (akra) you change the resonance/sound of the bike as well. I like the sound for sure but could do with a little less vibes. So Don from Vibranator.com said he would use my bike as a prototype of sorts and fit the bike with “Vibranator”. The problem is I don’t see the weld on the top of the handle bar so that I can remove the bung and install the Vibranator. There is one cable that is preventing me from taking the grip off completely. But still I'm at the edge anyway and should see the weld. BTW I’m also thinking of getting aluminum handlebars, which I’m told would make the vibes situation even better. Anyway this is my second time writing this reply the last one indicated an error with the attached dyno graph. So I will try to attach again.

Ok this my third attempt sorry the system won’t accept the pdf 550KB can’t reduce.

Thanks
K

if you have a laptop, could you upload your map for us to take a look at? i can give you a hand if you need help connecting it up, just PM me.

after installing my leo and arrow headers, which definitely is louder with more resonance than just the akra slip-on, my Powercommander and autotune setup actually reduced handlebar vibes. i think i can speak for most of the members in saying that it did it for them, too, which leads me to perhaps a slightly lean condition at the RPM's you're noticing the vibes at.

IMO, you've made a big $$ investment in making your bike smooth already, and if you're not happy with it definitely talk to the authorized dynojet tech folks that tuned it for you - something seems odd that shouldn't take long to iron out.

on a tangent, i'm curious to know the make-up of our stock handlebars. i'm guessing they're a type of aluminum alloy already, but could definitely be mistaken.

Thanks for the input Karson,

I know very little about the map. i'm technically challenge when it comes the maps and the dynojet. It seems that the software is windows based and all my computers are Macs. So the yamaha dealer install the PCV and used the existing map form the website. Then I had the authorized dynojet shop tune the bike on the dyno and thus created the map. The dyno guy seems to think that's all he could do with the dyno in that the bike is running at peak performance. In fact he does not believe that the auto-tune would not do any thing and does not recommend it. I can't explain everything he said but it made since to this novice. You might be right about the Yamaha bar being aluminum I will I'll do a search or call yamaha directly.

Thanks again

K

no worries - he probably didn't recommend the autotune because then you wouldn't have needed him ;o) you're right that they don't have software for a mac, but if you have a friend with a windows laptop, see if you can have them connect it up with the provided usb cable you got in your box. it really only takes a minute to get the map. if your buddy has an hour or two, (maybe even go on a ride if they have a bike?) see if the dynojet website map matched with your mods is any better.

i really don't think you should have vibes that bad, but if you feel like it's not worth the effort i'd be interested to hear how the other handlebar mods from vibranator work. i worked with ricor for a full suspension setup on my KLR - good folks and i don't think they'll lead you astray.

The bars are steel.........

You can get most if not all the vibe out of your bike with the fuel map... If you can post it or email it to me Ill be happy to look at it for you... I will also send you a few to see if it helps out.... I bet we can dial it in for you...................

As a note, I have the Vibranators installed, but not on the stock bar. I have had them tested on
two different aluminium bars, Renthal Fatbars 602 and SW Motech non-shock bars. The Vibranators is
just a bar end weight that goes into the bars instead of building on the witdth of the bars, though they make
the bars a couple of cm wider.

My results is that the product is well made and installation is simple and easy but for the vibes i am
convinced any bar end weight will serve the pupose.

I belive there is two serious approches to take on this vibration issue.
- Get to the source, the engine, tune fueling and other possible sources of vibes.
- Isolate the hands by soft, thick grips or soft, thick gloves (after trying "everything" this is what I focus on now)

Its easy though to change the rpm-band where the vibrations occurs with Rox Anti-vibration risers
and/or different handlebars. Also the frequency of the vibes are controllable through different weights
on the bar ends. I have found a reasonable good balance on the vibrations now.

Back to the issue of getting the inserts out. Get a drill bit the same diameter as the inside of the handlebars. Drill the bung out. Should take about 2 minutes. Presto, you're done. (I don't have any idea what weld he was talking about either)

Just slide off either grip. The spot weld it right there, that's how they hold in the bung. If you drill down the center, your drill bit will hit the weld. This is much stronger, the bit will stop. More than likely the bit will start to walk and if someone where continue you will dill through the bars.
If you only drill the weld out on top you just pull the bung out your done. I've fine this job about million times. Lol
