How about you Coastie?
Tall Gears?
In fact, there are a LOT of Texas Teneres.

We've been called out! (kindly, that is)

Oh I hear it! I'm going to try to make it to Big Bend, but unfortunately WV or any other long vacation is not going to happen for me this year :(

Don't forget Hodee out in Sugarland!

Sugar Land represent! I'm stuck in Florida nowadays and am always missing the motherland.

Rt 72 gets popular during Romney. I think I rode it 4 or 5 times on the second year of Romney. Probably only did once each way last year. I'm betting a lot of us will see it again this year.

Yes, more Texans please. Texas played a big role in the course of my life. Always room for more Texans.

TABASCO, you're on the list.

For anyone interested in checking out the some of the routes that were published last year there is now a link in the second post of this thread (page 1). There is also a link for downloading GPX files. Don't limit yourself to thinking these are the only good rides in the area. It's just a tiny fraction of what this area has to offer.

I'm seriously considering making this event on the new bike. Dates conflict with an event in Llano but currently leaning towards this scenic Appalachian ride instead. Would take the long way there; Talimena, Cherahola, Deals Gap, Blue Ridge, Skyline Dr, etc. Then enjoy the 3 days of riding in WV before taking the long way home via southern Ohio detour to visit friends and family.

Silverbullet,

You obviously belong on a Super Tenere.
Anytime you use phrases like "the long way", and you include more days for getting to and from, than the actual days of the event itself,......well, it just gets my ADV blood flowing.

Hope you do make it.

I am hoping to make it to this event. Beginning to plan towards it now. Would be fun to meet a lot of you from this forum, and looks to be some great riding in that area.

The Baker Brothers plan to make another return from Ohioland. Looks like we have a team of five so far.

Wouldn't be a party without the Baker brothers. Look forward to hearing about the Nova Scotia ride.

Kind of excited, got a few knuckle heads going to follow me down and put our feet up for the weekend, crew of DRZ guys as I have one too. I bought the S10 at Romney on a whim after my two local dealers being less than amicable for a purchase and they mentioned they had a big gathering and I see it's pretty well known. I see from some of the pictures, there's some trees to be able to camp out of the sun and whatnot. Are there provisions for food local enough to not justify bringing food? Figure folding chairs and a fly should make the weekend hospitable.

No need to bring any food. There are a number of restaurants in Romney. They have two Italian restaurants , a nice little diner that only takes cash, Mountain Top cafe (I think its called that) which I'm told is general fare, and a few others that I haven't tried yet. Sheetz is well stocked with food, and there has to be at least one grocery store around there.

The Ruritans will be on site starting Saturday morning. They sell a nice breakfast at a very reasonable price. Impossible to beat the convenience of eating right there before gearing up for the day. Romney will sponsor the Saturday evening meal served by the Ruritans. The Ruritans will also be there Sunday morning to sell breakfast.

The "big" town grocery store is on the north side of Route 50, a couple of miles east of the center of town. The best beer prices seem to be at the drive thru which is half way to it.

Alcohol and food in one trip a coincidence? I think not!

It still surprises me that you can buy beer at the gas station :) :)
In Romney you don't have to buy it at the gas station. They have a drive-thru beer store.
